oke, I still don't understand what EXACTLY happened. Please fill me in.

2005
(before, after, during) writing SFBM, Ed signed something all the other guys didnt know about, but what exactly? It was bad for the other guys, but how came it that they didnt notice it for 4 years

2005-2009
Everyone was "happy", SFBM release, Radiant Sea, Live at the Paradiso was recorded (an at that time Ed and Chad still did their happy jump-dance during Lakini's Juice). Also, the pre-show footage shown was them being a happy band (remember Pat? hehe). I guess it was in this time that the other 3 thought Ed was a bit too much of an ego, but still "supported him", according to Chad. Between 2006 en 2008 there were more and more solo shows tho.

early 2009
Band/Ed says they're working on new material, that will sound Forever/Purifier-ish, and band rehearsed together for the first time in quite some time. They even brought songs like Hold me Up back. It was in this period 'Believe' showed up.
At the other hand, Ed continued with his late 2008 started solo-shows and created his first own song (Zion), that at first, was stated, to be for the band Live ("I can wait to add the band to this song" -EK).

2009 (May)
Live was asked to perform as surprise act Pinkpop 2009, Ed asked the management to ask the other 3 if they agree with Ed getting 100.000 extra? So at that time they didnt even interacted with each other anymore or what? Why? - because Chad said they found out about the 2005-thing during the hiatus/break, and so after May?

post- may 2009
Band said they wanted a break, I guess both for creative reasons as for the whole Ed ego thing. Last few shows were performed in July in which they acted like they had some kind of fight with Ed (at least for me it seemed like that), but these shows were already planned months earlier. It was this period they found out about the 2005 contract, right? When they discovered this ("a stap in the back of his friends") for Chad it was obvious it was over and didnt want to perform with Ed ever again.

For me there are some missing pieces in between... what exactly happened?

Personally I think Chad, Chad and Pat should just suck it up.

U2 have been friends since high school too and have had more spats than most people think and have nearly broken up many times, Bono's massive ego being just one of the reasons.

But they're still friends and are still making great music and playing fucking excellent live shows. I can attest to it as I saw them in October.

If U2 can survive Bono's ego, Live can survive Ed's.

Is it is right now; Chad, Chad and Pat are being assholes and I could care less about TGF until they and Ed can make amends.

But U2 have fucking sucked since they nearly broke up the first time then came back to make The Joshua Tree.

Just my opinion. thumbsup.gif

I get the impression that The Edge, Adam Clayton and Lary Mullen Jr have pretty resilient egos too so they have strong enough characters to rein Bono in. Plus Bono's saving grace is he knows he's an asshole with an ego the size of a solar system - I'm not sure Ed does.

Indeed, this is not about just someones ego. It is about not being able to trust someone within your business. Someone that legally bound the GROUP to a contract and cost the other 3 members financially.

So when you say "suck it up" Would you suck it up if someone took lets say 100 bucks out of your wallet. I am sure you would be pissed. Would you "Suck it up"
Now lets say that a person took 1000 from you. Still want to "suck it up" ok what about hundreds of thousand or millions?
All Chad did was hold ED accountable for his actions and ensure that all the members of the band are treated equally.

I personally didn't say suck it up. If what Chad says is correct and he has the proof that Ed screwed the rest of the band over and ostensibly stole money, he should definitely see him in court. If for no other reason than to be being able to draw a line under it and feel vindicated.

hmm... do you guys think that all this stuff (Chad discovering the 'secret' contract etc) has come in the wake of Gary Kurfirst's passing? Was he still involved in LIVE's management up until recently?

Just a thought.

Yes, I'd say that is a definite possibility. Whoever is the next in line managing their legal business probably found it for them and contacted the rest of them.

Kinda like, "hmm what's this.....No signatures of the other 3? Whoa, I better let them know asap? Chad mentioned once they found out they tried to get it rectified with Ed and his attorney to no avail. I can see why all the friction on stage since this past winter.

I'm not a new peep - been reading for a couple of years but just posting now. Joined awhile back. Wanna put my 2cents worth in as well smile.gif

Actually, I loved their last two albums nod.gif

Look, I'm speaking from an Australian perspective. I imagine that Live the band is a business entity - I can't imagine that they are operating from any other angle such as with Ed having the ability to do what he supposedly did. If so, that is just a plain dumb and ignorant of the 3 others whether they are best buds from school/brothers or whatever. So, as a business, unless the other three have given Ed permission to make legal decisions on their behalf, I can't see how he supposedly did this.

I'm not taking sides, I'm pretty pissed off with all of them to tell you the truth. Ed's been shitting me for a while with his declarations of (false) love for his fans...gag worthy. And I don't like how CT with CG and Pat's blessing disclosed this info.
