i was listening to a local station this morning at work and they have been having guest co-hosts for a little while since their regular co-host is on maternity leave. they were talking about a very special guest for Friday's show and said that it is this person's birthday and they are going to throw a huge birthday party on the air and this person will be the co-host for the morning. i wasn't really paying much attention until they said this person is an international rock star and they said it was Chad Taylor. he will be on the FM97 Morning Rush on friday morning apparently. the morning show has podcasts on their webpage so hopefully they'll put up a podcast of friday's show. check out the station's website here.

it was a very cool interview today! he was there for about 2 hours and they talked a little about Live and the tour they just completed, and he said they're on a long break, hopefully into the new year but they will probably start thinking about doing shows again around february or march. they played The Dolphin's Cry, I Walk the Line, Heaven and we got a very special treat too! he said that he likes to do the singer/songwriter thing from time to time and he plays under the name "Georgie Case and the Flatland Drummers". Georgie Case is the name of the character in the tv show that he was developing so he started writing music under that name. he had a cd with one of his songs on it and they played it on the air. he said it was the first time it was ever played on the radio, and probably the last time too! it was a good song. it was called "Ain't No Use" and had a Johnny Cash feel to it. he said that he put together a compilation of the bands he's been producing to send to friends he has at record labels, and he threw his song on there just for the hell of it. the president of Virgin Records called him and said "who is this Georgie Case guy?? i need to sign him!" Chad told him that "Georgie" is very reclusive and doesn't want a record deal and to this day, the president of Virgin doesn't know that Georgie is actually Chad!

there was a listener who called in and asked if there would be anymore songs released from SFBM and it seemed like Chad was kind of unsure how to answer, so he said "I think Epic forgot that we are on their label" and pretty much left it at that.

he asked this listener what her favorite song on SFBM is and she said Wings and he said that's one of his favorites too. he told a cool story related to the song. they were playing an outdoor festival in Switzerland (i think) and it was overcast all day and then when they were playing Wings, a small hole opened up in the clouds and the sun was shining down through it and Ed walked over to him, put his arm around him and started squeezing him to get his attention and when he looked up, there were 3 huge birds circling right above the stage. he joked and said they payed their lighting guy more money after that show!

he was talking about what it's like adjusting to his home life after being on the road for so long and said he had to take the trash out the other night and loaded and unloaded the dishwasher. he also said he gets up in the morning and helps get his girls ready for school every day.

they also spent some time talking about Aurora and the movie "Home" that he produced. i liked the fact that they spent a lot of time talking about Chad as a person and not just the guitarist from Live. hopefully they will get a podcast of the show up on their website. i know the DJ who hosts the morning show so i will try and find out from him if they are going to have the whole show up or not.

Whatever happened with Flatland Drummers? I was going through my mp3s and found "I Guess" and "Ain't No Use".....not even sure how to file them away since I don't think either song were officially released....
