Not to get into a Live vs Pearl Jam (or Live vs another band) argument, but someone posted the following on a Pearl Jam forum about the current tour:

QUOTE
These 6 shows have been incredible so far!!!! Sick setlists all the way through.

I did some tabulating... and through the 6 shows thus far they've played 79...

yes... 79... different songs...

79 songs over 6 concerts consecutively is pretty amazing.

Given Live's discography (7 studio albums, numerous covers) they could certainly mix it up a bit more. I pulled 6 set lists from the "On the Road" threads, and calculated 25 different songs over 6 shows (alphabetically, with # of times played)
QUOTE

All Over You (6)
Believe (2)
Blowin' In the Wind (2)
Dance with you (1)
Dolphins Cry (6)
Forever (6)
Gas Head (6)
Heaven (6)
Hold Me Up (6)
I Alone (6)
Iris (1)
Lakinis Juice (6)
Lightning Crashes (6)
Purifier (2)
Run to the Water (2)
Selling the Drama (2)
Shit Towne (2)
Sofia (6)
Supernatural (1)
The Distance (5)
They Stood up for Love (2)
Top (2)
Turn My Head (6)
Waitress (1)
White Discussion (6)

I may be off by a count or two, but these are the only songs played over 6 nights... not a very diverse set list, considering they have a catalog of 88 studio songs as well as 10+ covers. As much as I will miss them if they do not reunite after this hiatus, I already miss them not being the premier touring band that lives up to the name +Live+.

Just my opinion, of course...

well played, well played.

P.S. -

How hard? Well, how about this: Unlike other bands that play the same songs every night for a year, Dream Theater perform a different show every night -- with set lists based not only on what they played last night, but what the 24-year-old band played every other time they visited that city.

"Our drummer Mike Portnoy has every set list we have ever played," LaBrie says. "On his computer, he can see every song we've played in every city on every tour. And he will do everything to make sure that we never play the same song in the same city two tours in a row.

"He's OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), there's no doubt about it," the singer says, laughing. "And he'll be the first one to admit it. But he's not obnoxious about it. We know that a lot of our fans come to more than one show, so our mindset is to make it interesting not only for them but for us."

LaBrie guesstimates that the band has about 80 songs in rotation -- most of which are musically complex epics that can last up to 42 minutes. "And not to toot my own horn, but I still don't use a TelePrompter."

Yeah it can be done.
