we never heard early versions of Sun and Forever on youtube either-- who knows.. if we had.. we might be saying the same thing.. and we dont know what THIS song will sound like after work in the studio

i cant believe i'm even posting again about this song.. i dont care for it. or atleast the youtube version EK posted-- and i can tell you what i dont like about it..

BUT what many have spewed here is infact OPINION.. all entirely subjective. i think its totally fine and cool to say you like or dont like the song for whatever reason.. but this pseudo intellectual BS about what MAKES good music is a load of crap. there is no objective TEST for music.. beauty is in the eye (ears) of the beholder..

would it just be easier if we all unzipped and laid it out on the table? maybe we can then move on?

Sorry, I can't agree with that whatsoever. Peoples taste...likes, dislikes, may be subjective.

I know a few musicians who've been playing for a long time. Musicians with an appreciation for all kinds of music. Musicians who can admit that some of the catchy music they have guilty pleasures for is absolute technical fucking garbage.

Again, argue it all you want. A basic fucking requisition for good music is that it takes some talent on some level. Meaning not simpleton bullshit that can be played and arranged on a childs yamaha keyboard. Not lyrics that sound as if they are written by a 9 year old learning to write poetry.

You gonna tell me that a teacher grading literature is being subjective in his grading?? LMFROFLMAO!!!!!!!! Bad fucking writing is just that, there's nothing subjective about it. Intelligent people can recognise good writng while their being subjected to it. Just as those same people can tell when something was written by someone bordering retardation. Nothing subjective about it.

Same goes for music. Simple songs with simple prgressions on guitar and drums can be catchy...people can like them....but in the realm of good music? They have no fucking place. I can name you several pieces of work and several artists who I despise, yet can recognize that their music is technically sound, well structured and takes a lot of talent to create and play. I just don't like it. Still good music that the average musician would have no hope of ever creating.

You people arguing this subjective bullshit seriously make me laugh. Talking about beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all that nonsense? Hilarious, wow.
