It's just one song, though. And taking these lyrics at face value is kind of taking them out of conetext. Listen to the song with them, and it's just a decent but throwaway rock song. And is it the only song ever to pain something in a negative light (in this case, women)? No. I'm pretty shocked at how crazy the hate of Nickelback (them moreso than Creed, who don't seem to get it as much) is. People don't seem to give it much thought at all, they just throw big blankets over it all with terribly hypocritial and bullshit reasons.

"I don't like the singer, he's a dick."

They're all bulshit reasons, because you could say that about every band. You could. I bet only a small minority of the shit throwers actually know what they're talking about. They've just heard a few songs, isn't really their thing and it's the "in" thing to hate them, so they do. And there'll be some that have no real opinion of the band, but there's a mate beside them who's saying "God aren't they shit eh, Nickelback, this song is just like that other one. I don't have their albums, but the songs I've heard sound samey he's a dick too that singer look at him, eh? What a tosser, with his hair, and the way he sings? I don't like it, it's shit, they're shit, aren't they shit?

The reasons people give for hating Nickelback, it's so stupid. You have to hate TONNES more bands if they're really reasons to hate bands. Or, on the flip side, it's just stupid and/or a social thing.

That's cause Creed have been broken up until recently. They used to be hated on a lot too (for good reason). I'm sure now that they're back together torturing the public with their terrible music, the hate will continue.

The reasons everyone gives for disliking Nickelback are valid. It's your arguments against it that lack any validity. The only thing your arguments consist of is, "Oh, every other band has sucky lyrics, so Nickelback isn't bad. People must hate Nickelback cause their friends do. This is so retarded."

I think that could be part of the reason. A perfect example would be "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder (one of a dozen Nickelback clones that the idiotic public eats up, I bet Merica likes this song too). So many women I know just hear the words lips of an angel and automatically thinks, "OMG, this song is so sweet and sensitive" when the song is really about cheating on your woman.

But I think that's only part of it. Obviously there are people who know the lyrics and still like the songs. Like I said before. Look at the audience it attracts: rednecks who beat women (they obviously have no issues with these types of lyrics) and the g/f's of said rednecks (many of whom continue to stay with the guys who beat them...so it's really no surprise why they would accept this portrayal of women).

Genericness in there, repeating themes perhaps, but nothing outstanding terrible beyond their peers worst efforts. So for me it is a bit of a bullshit reason, because people just cite one or two songs and that's their basis for the whole thing. Their lyrics really aren't startlingly bad, but people want to hate them so they pick up on anything and everything they can to validate their argument.

There are plenty of bands that don't have terrible lyrics. If you honestly think that every band has terrible lyrics, then you need to listen to more music.

Regardless of how good or bad the other lyrics are, he doesn't know, so he should have to look more into the other material before deciding on their lyrical ability. No, he probably couldn't 100% know for certain their other lyrics are just as bad from one song. But let's be serious here. The chances of someone coming up with lyrics that bad and pulling a complete 180 and having genius lyrics in other songs are very slim. Unless Chad Kroeger is some bipolar genius, anyone should be able to make an educated guess at what his other songs are like.

I don't think people only get on Nickelback for bad lyrics. The only reason why people may talk about them more than other bands with bad lyrics is because they're more popular. So of course they're going to be mentioned more.

Ummm...okay. Nowhere in his post did he say it was unique only to them. The only point he was making was that he thought the lyrics were terrible and that maybe the reason why women still liked them was cause they didn't pay attention to the lyrics.

How can you say something like the quote above and be posting on a Live fansite? Ed has written some drop dead gorgeous lyrics, like in They Stood Up For Love and Century, but then he went and wrote The River.
