Wow... I had no idea the lyrics were so bad. The people who listen to this music are generally female and I don't understand why they would accept this portrayal of women. Maybe the average person doesn't listen to the words... that must be it.

It's just one song, though. And taking these lyrics at face value is kind of taking them out of conetext. Listen to the song with them, and it's just a decent but throwaway rock song. And is it the only song ever to pain something in a negative light (in this case, women)? No. I'm pretty shocked at how crazy the hate of Nickelback (them moreso than Creed, who don't seem to get it as much) is. People don't seem to give it much thought at all, they just throw big blankets over it all with terribly hypocritial and bullshit reasons.

"They're lyrics are terrible".
"The're songs sound the same."
"I don't like the singer, he's a dick."

They're all bulshit reasons, because you could say that about every band. You could. I bet only a small minority of the shit throwers actually know what they're talking about. They've just heard a few songs, isn't really their thing and it's the "in" thing to hate them, so they do. And there'll be some that have no real opinion of the band, but there's a mate beside them who's saying "God aren't they shit eh, Nickelback, this song is just like that other one. I don't have their albums, but the songs I've heard sound samey he's a dick too that singer look at him, eh? What a tosser, with his hair, and the way he sings? I don't like it, it's shit, they're shit, aren't they shit?

The reasons people give for hating Nickelback, it's so stupid. You have to hate TONNES more bands if they're really reasons to hate bands. Or, on the flip side, it's just stupid and/or a social thing.

I listened to the song with them and it's even worse. The lyrics are bad enough without having to listen to "frog in my throat" Kroeger trying to sing them.

The only thing your arguments consist of is, "Oh, every other band has sucky lyrics, so Nickelback isn't bad. People must hate Nickelback cause their friends do. This is so retarded."

I think that could be part of the reason. A perfect example would be "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder (one of a dozen Nickelback clones that the idiotic public eats up, I bet Merica likes this song too). So many women I know just hear the words lips of an angel and automatically thinks, "OMG, this song is so sweet and sensitive" when the song is really about cheating on your woman.

But I think that's only part of it. Obviously there are people who know the lyrics and still like the songs. Like I said before. Look at the audience it attracts: rednecks who beat women (they obviously have no issues with these types of lyrics) and the g/f's of said rednecks (many of whom continue to stay with the guys who beat them...so it's really no surprise why they would accept this portrayal of women).

Generalizing Nicleback fans as wife beating rednecks and morons is well, idiotic to say the least. While I agree that their music is generic and uncreative, generalizations like that make you look flat out stupid. I went to see em at the Amphitheatre in Toronto and there were over 9,000 people in there.

The majority of them seemed to be mostly 20 somethings that looked completely normal to me. No trailers in this city and no rednecks neither, at least not many. I think most hillbillies and rednecks are scared of the cold, you know?

While I don't think that anybody could enjoy their music for the lyrics or the musical talent, the furthest I could stretch any generalization would be to say that anyone who does like em for that reason, is probably none too intelligent and certainly not musically educated.

I saw em at the urging of two friends, (neither of whom are rednecks), just to see what they were like in concert. While all the music sounded the same still, it was pretty entertaining. Seeing LIVE the night after was a complete contrast, meaning Nickleback was so much better it was embarassing. More energy, more interaction, threw loads of beer into the crowd, a tribute to dimebag. Sure they suck, but at least they tried.

But to say all their fans are hicks and such? Come on dude, it's sooooo ironic to read some jerk off like you calling somebody else stupid, while in the same sentence, sounding like the dumbest motherfucker ever to walk the planet. Asshole.
