I stand by this. Both are decent enough, and have each made some really cracking songs. I'll never understand the hate for either, I think it's probably just jealousy because they've both had big success. *shrug*

I think they both suck pretty bad, but Creed is much MUCH worse. Nickelback put on a great Live show, no matter how redundant their music is. Stapp shows up drunk and the band sucks just as bad sober. Creed is utter garbage with no redeeming quality whatsover. Nickelback is entertaining in concert at least.

But... why? They've done some decent stuff; One Last Breath, What If, My Own Prison, My Sacrifice... they're all cool rock songs in my opinion. Certainly not ground breaking, and with a touch of genericness (what's the word?) about them... but I don't see how people can HATE them. Same with Nickelback; How You Remind Me, Too Bad, Animals.... they've done some good stuff. I know people say "oh but they all sound the same", which for me is a bullshit reason because tonnes of bands milk the same sonic vein. I don't get the hate. They're not the best bands in the world, but each has done some good stuff.

... even when it comes to both much-hated lead singers, even if they both do the same voice for each song (which, if we're criticising people for, we have a LOT of other singers to throw shit at), I still think they each have a good enough rock voice. It's just, I dunno, I *really* don't get the seething hate thrown at these two bands. It kinda seems like band-wagon jumping.

Also, I like Something In Your Mouth. It's a funky enough tune. I think people have listened to five seconds of it, and decided straight away that THIS SOUNDS SIMILAR HMM NICKELBACK SUCK THEY ALWAYS SUCK THIS SOUNDS THE SAME IT SUCKS IT SUCKS. People don't seem to give it much thought, they just pick up shit and throw. Not all (ie you, Luke), but some I guarantee are just trying to make themselves seem cool in other people's eyes because they share the same opinion. "Oh hey, I dunno I guess yeah I hate them too, we're the same, you like me now right? I feel better about myself now, lol."

*shrug* I really don't get the mass hate, and the actual level of the hate. I find it absurd. For me, both bands are okay. Nothing special, but okay.

You're absolutely right. People are saying Nickelback sucks just to be cool. It has nothing to do with the atrocious lyrics, generic songwriting, or Chad's horrible singing croaking. I mean, only a genius could come up with this:

I said "some" are just tyring to be cool. Some. It means "not all". Atrocious lyrics? Generic songwriting? Horrible singing? All opinion of course, and how dare mine not conform with yours. I cannot take this hate anymore, I think I'll start throwing shit at them, then you'll like me won't you? We'll be the best of friends, won't we? I'm listening to SIYM now. Decent rock sound, typical rock band type lyrics. Generic, perhaps. But so what? Every band these days pulls out a few generic tunes. It's a bit of fun. I'm sorry you can't enjoy it.
