I've been into paintballing for many years (never at any paintball place just with buddies out in the country) Lucky enough to have a friend who owns land.
We play on weekends. Love it. We got forts built and all that shit. I got a Tippmann 98 custom.
I gotta say, Tippmanns are like the AK-47 of paintball markers. Reliable, built strong, works like a charm. Plus with my 20" barrel sniping is beautiful.

QUOTE(Pokey @ Apr 23 2009, 6:35 am) *

I've always wanted to try sometime but something I never quite got ... unlike it's pussy little cousin game laser tag, this one seems to be that once you get shot that's it, you're out and gotta walk the field with your gun in the air .. is that really the whole game over and can be a complete waste of money or do you go back to the start, get the paint cleaned off and head back out?

That's the thing. I get together with friends, we grab our gear, our beer and head out into the woods. We make our own rules.
Some games are deathmatches, team deathmatch, attack the fort, and an all out charge game with full hoppers unlimited lives and death screams and growls for added effect.
Just watch where you go to play so you don't get caught. But that's a risk we have been taking for 5 years and we haven't been stopped yet.
We actually had a cop stop by our cars and ask what we were doing. We said paintball and he smiled and drove away. So go figure.

I played paintball once when I was a teenager on a school activity day. Did some capture the flag kind of game and I was defending the base with a few mates when someone shouted that someone was heading for the flag, two of us went in to defend from two opposite positions and she thought that I was the attacker and promply loosed three paintballs into my stomach at a range of about one metre.
They drew blood and the whole of my right side was purple with the bruising!!

It took about a week before I could bend down to tie my shoelaces and the marks were still there for about a year afterwards before totally disappearing!!

Other than that, it was great fun and I would thoroughly recommend it!
