I've been into paintballing for many years (never at any paintball place just with buddies out in the country) Lucky enough to have a friend who owns land.
We play on weekends. Love it. We got forts built and all that shit. I got a Tippmann 98 custom.
I gotta say, Tippmanns are like the AK-47 of paintball markers. Reliable, built strong, works like a charm. Plus with my 20" barrel sniping is beautiful.

I've always wanted to try sometime but something I never quite got ... unlike it's pussy little cousin game laser tag, this one seems to be that once you get shot that's it, you're out and gotta walk the field with your gun in the air .. is that really the whole game over and can be a complete waste of money or do you go back to the start, get the paint cleaned off and head back out?

Yeah, usually when you get shot you're out of the game and you need to retreat to the sidelines to watch the rest of the match. The times I've been we would normally go through about 8-10 games. Most of the matches are team based and last around 15 minutes.

It's harder than you think to get shot. Most of the time the opposition is in front of you so you can see them coming. Unless of course you get flanked and they come up from behind. That being said you will come away with a few bruises.
