Just for the record, I'm not a huge fan of this solo gigs idea. Get together with your band and produce something.

Is this some "I could have done it on my own midlife crisis thing" or is he doing it for kicks. If for kicks, kick your ass back to the studio with your band.

I agree with Hoodstock..........get together with your band and make a badass record. You'd think these guys would be itching to make a great record. And should we be reading anything into this solo show spurt? Does Ed have aspirations of going out on his own? Man, I hope not.

The 4/20 Philly show at the Tin Angel is SOLD OUT by the way. I was there tonite for a show, and a chic I was hanging with got shut down trying to buy tix. They told her another show may be added. I kind of doubt that, but I guess time will tell..............

The lead singer of the Alternate Routes will be opening for Ed in Hoboken and I'm guessing all these solo shows. Both bands are associated with Vanguard, so it makes perfect sense. A Live/Alternate Routes summer tour would rock! smile.gif

Live frontman makes plans for rare solo show

Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk (BMS file photo)
Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk will perform a "secret" solo acoustic show at Great Scott in Allston on Thursday, April 23. Tickets for the rare and intimate show are now on sale for $15 via Ticket Web.

Live was most recently in town last month for a sold out show at the House of Blues and is expected to return to New England this summer, though no official tour plans have been released. Last fall, the band released a live CD/DVD, Live at the Paradiso - Amsterdam. Their last studio album was 2006's Songs from Black Mountain.

In Hoboken, Ed's set time is 1 hour and begins at 10 pm. There are 2 opening acts. The second of which "The Alternate Routes" are pretty good. See you all there!

Notes on Hoboken show:

- Excellent show, the crowd was very into it

-Very hot at the show, every time Ed commented about it, the a/c would turn on (pretty funny)

-Ed did not play the new song

-Played an acoustic version of All Over You that rocked!

There was a meet and greet afterwards and my friend is staying to get a pic with Ed. Any news and I'll report it.
