Live supposedly rehearsed songs that they haven't played in quite some time yesterday. I can't wait to see what ends up in the setlist tonight!

How was the crowd and the venue?

How was the crowd and the venue?

The venue was amazing.. acoustics at HoB are always excellent, but this new one was especially good. The crowd sucked, at least where I was. Either college kids who didn't even know the ones everyone knows at the other shows, or way old farts who couldn't hold their liquor dancing around snapping their fingers pretending to have any idea who LIVE was.

Top was great, Blowin' in the wind was a nice replacement for Walk the Line.. That new Takamine sounds amazing. I'm always happy when they play the Distance. Selling the Drama, All over you, Turn my Head, Run to the Water (wife was happy). Hell they were all great once the first three were over (new ones) and Ed took that fucking scarf off and stopped dancing like he'd done WAY too much exctasy. Wife and I were all WTF at first, but then again all of his new dance moves take a while to grow on us (or they take him a while to do well, not sure which). He brought the bullhorn back from Amsterdam, I could do without it for Lakinis but it's perfect for those lines in White, Discussion.. he even threw in a hard southern accent 'I warned you, I prepared you'.. was funny.

Seriously, after the first three songs were over, it became one of my favorite shows. The guitars were just amazing.. not sure if it was them, or the venue, but it sounded SO good. Every song was a 'guitars UP' mix. I think they have been practicing, as the overall production quality on Hold Me Up was just outstanding. Or I've been listening to the crappy demo for so long I was just easily impressed heh. I was surprised they ended on White, Discussion.. but another show ending with 'Dance with you' might have left a weird feeling.. this setlist was so surprising that I know we'll be anxious to drop a grand on plane tickets and hotel to do it again soon (Texas, maybe?). It's nice not knowing what comes next, or what gem they will pull out of the graveyard.

If you get a chance to catch a show soon, you won't be disappointed.. the boys have been practicing and Hold Me Up is absolutely amazing live.
