Any fans of this kind of music. Such bands as:

Symphony x
Dream Theater
Cynic
Tool
Riverside
Nevermore
Opeth

If you are tired of boring bands, prog is where it's at.

You know, I've had Porcupine Tree on my to do list for several years. Just never got round to it. One day I will and will no doubt wonder why I didn't do it sooner.

And I agree, there are a lot of great bands about that don't get airplay. In fact, all the bands I'm heavily into rarely hit the airwaves or music channels. I'm nearly 40 but I still constantly find new bands that I love rather than sticking with the old mainstream guff or old stuff from the 80s and 90s like some of my friends do.

Give me InMe or Exit Ten any day over boring shite like Coldplay, Oasis or embarrassing old behemoths like U2 (that new single is absolute pants). The best singer songwriter I've heard in ages I found on a TV advert for sliced bread. lol.gif Thank god someone in advertising has decent taste in music.

Great post! I agree 100% with everything you said... I used to be one of those losers that said there was no good new music but you just have to look a little and you can find gold in new bands. I got turned onto Porcupine tree because it was related to King's X on a last.fm playlist and I gotta say In Absentia was a damn sexy album. Not one bad song on it. Some of the indie bands to come out of the Canada scene are good too.

I guess I can tie this back to Live. I don't really care to hear them on the radio or music channels because that would mean they have been accepted by the mainstream along with all that other crappy music. Life is too short to listen to bad music.
