I was contacted by mail by a completely stranger yesterday, that asked for the song Lift me Up by the band "LIVE". He was at the press-screening of the movie 'Zack and Mirri...' in the US, and said he heard a song in it, that turned out to be by the a band called LIVE. He knew I had the song, because I once commented on the song on youtube, a long time ago. He searched all the albums of the band, but couldn't find it. He really liked the song (when he heard it during the movie "instantly leaveing me in "awe"," according to his mail), so I guess it's positive that non-Live fans, that aren't familiar with the band, notice an unknown song, appearently like it and trying to get it!

I hope that it gives Live a little extra promotion when other people will also like the song. It would even be possible, now the DVD release is near, it would stimulate the sales of their DVD a little, little bit, but that's just wishfull thinking.

Has anyone else here seen the movie, btw?

25 more downloads in the time I went to take a shower and get dressed. Pretty crazy.

I went ahead a little bit ago and reposted the song to YouTube with the correct song title and a Zack and Miri mention so maybe more people can stumble across it. It's already getting some decent views.

LIVE better not drop the ball with this one. They release this later on as a single on iTunes, even, and they'd make a decent chunk of change.

I think the band should re-record a new version of the song for album 8. Purifier shows that the band can still rock, why pay royalties to Geffen when they can just redo the song.

Good God, Nick, NO! Part of the reason "Hold Me Up" is so valuable is because it's the last tangible piece of Throwing Copper that's apparently left. Tarnishing the track over $$$ makes the band look like just another whore for a buck. I personally don't want any of that harmonica/organ/choir bullshit on such a brilliant track. And Ed's voice will never be as RAW as it was in those days. Does anyone honestly think a re-recorded version would have movie goers who never even heard of Live before going so apeshit over the song??

The song is recorded, mixed, mastered, and BRILLIANT... there has NEVER been any good reason to leave it on the shelf. Those goofy bastards should just do their part to get it released already. Luckily, given the fact that they're way too apathetic so sign a simple form that says Geffen gets a cut of what they legally own through studio time, there's no way the band would ever bother to re-record it anyway... unless they just feel like spiting the fans, which is what they've been doing for years with this thing.

And yes, I'm bitter, no need to point it out. bomb.gif
