I'm a fan of Coheed and Cambria, and they are doing this ridiculous tour this fall where they play four nites in a row, and each nite they play one of their four albums in their entirety. Basically they are playing 4 nites in NYC and 4 in LA. They are charging $120 for a "VIP package", which includes meeting the band, signed band stuff, a special acoustic show, and the actual concerts.

To me they are a band which definitely understands their audience...and I was thinking how incredible it would be if Live did the same. Obviously the details would have to change, since live has more albums and their career has been a lot longer than coheed's.

But I think a special multi-nite tour in a couple US/intl cities would be great for the fans....but maybe not economically feasible (for instance Coheeds message board has thousands of active members who are all potential ticket buyers)

The tour in my mind would be something like this:

NITE 1: Songs from Black Mountain (since its their latest im sure they'll wanna play it), with SELECTED SONGS off of BOP, V, outtakes, covers as encore
NITE 2: TDTH/SS - would be 26 songs. Pearl Jam played 26 when the came to Philly, so its not unheard of
NITE 3: Mental Jewelry/ MJ outtakes as encore
NITE 4: Throwing Copper - PILLAR AND WD as encore, maybe mix in a couple other songs to make it longer

Think they would ever consider something like this? Looking at the current setlists for July shows disappoints me. Its like the same old songs....im seeing them in august and i want things to getting shaken up, which prompted this post...

Never. Going. To. Happen.

In fact, nothing close to this will ever happen. Live don't rehearse, they don't even soundcheck anymore.

Live have been playing the same stale setlist for years and there's nothing to suggest that this will change.

well you're right that nothing close to it will ever happen, but i don't think it's right they don't rehearse anymore? At least, they still did in 2006, when Chad Taylor blogged 'they practised about 30 different songs to play on tour'. So why would they suddenly totally stopped this now?
