Here is the press release for this show:

LIVE, BLUES TRAVELER AND COLLECTIVE SOUL
TEAM UP TO PERFORM
AT MEADOW BROOK MUSIC FESTIVAL JULY 24
TICKETS ON SALE THIS FRIDAY

Alternative rock bands Live, Blues Traveler and Collective Soul will perform at Meadow Brook Music Festival on Thursday, July 24 at 7 p.m.

Tickets at $45 and $29.50 pavilion and $15 lawn go on this Friday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at Palacenet.com, The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre Box Offices and all Ticketmaster locations. Special lawn four-packs are available for $40.

Tickets may also be charged to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling 248/645-6666.

Live formed in the early 1980s in their hometown of York, Pennsylvania, when future members Chad Taylor (guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums) began playing together under the name First Aid while attending middle school. After losing an area talent contest, they decided to enlist singer Ed Kowalczyk, and as a foursome the group played under a series of names before drawing their current name out of a hat.

In 1992, the band released their debut album Mental Jewelry, which peaked at number seven on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Their follow-up album Throwing Copper (1994) reached number one on Billboard’s 200 Top-Selling Albums chart based on the strength of the hit singles, “I Alone” and “Lightning Crashes.” In 1997, they released Secret Samadhi, which also peaked at number one on Billboard’s 200 Top-Selling Albums chart.

The band has also released several other albums including The Distance to Here (1999), V (2001), Birds of Prey (2001), Awake: The Best of Live (2004) and Songs from the Black Mountain (2006).

Their latest release Radiant Sea (2007) is a collection of 10 live concert recordings and two previously unreleased studio-recorded songs.

New York-based blues-rock quartet Blues Traveler formed in 1988 while the four members were high school classmates in Princeton, New Jersey. The group, with like-minded bands such as Phish, Widespread Panic and Dave Matthews Band, became part of a revival of the extended jamming styles of 1960s and 1970s groups such as the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin. Overall, they have released nine albums, received six gold or platinum plaques and have sold more than 10 million discs.

Blues Traveler released their self-titled debut album in 1990 and followed up with Travelers & Thieves (1991), which peaked at number one on the Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.

Other albums include Save His Soul (1993), Four (1994), Straight on Till Morning (1997), Bridge (2001), Truth Be Told (2003) and ¡Bastardos! (2005).

Blues Traveler consists of John Popper (vocals/harmonica), Chan Kinchla (guitar), Brendan Hill (drums), Tad Kinchla (bass) and Ben Wilson (keyboard).

Collective Soul is an alternative rock/post-grunge band from Stockbridge, Georgia. The band initially got its start known as Marching Two Step in the late 1980s and went through several lineup changes before they broke through as Collective Soul. Originally released in 1993, Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid proved popular with the hit “Shine,” which became a modern rock and MTV staple. They released their sophomore effort the following year, Collective Soul, which featured the hits “World I Know” and “December,” going multi-platinum.

Currently, the band consists of Ed Roland (vocals, keyboard, guitar), Dean Roland (guitar), Will Turpin (bass guitar, vocals), Joel Kosche (guitar) and Ryan Hoyle (drums, percussion).

Live, Collective Soul and Blues Traveler are part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
