Live V, as you all know, was released a week after Sept. 11, 2001. It was seemingly about those horrible events, and has come to represent a beam of hope in those dark days. For those who think and feel Sept. 11 is a wound that will never heal. Watching Overcome, Simple Creed and Like a Soldier off 'Awake' a while ago was a tearful experience. It's good to not forget.

My favourite song from that album is 'The Ride.' I've even transcribed the lyrics on the 'Favourite non-Rush Lyrics' thread on the Rush message board which is my cyberhome. I push Live over there just as I will no doubt push Rush over here. Our own Rushgirl is a big fan of Live. Anyway, I don't know what it is exactly but something about Live (maybe Ed's voice) just gives me goosebumps every time. I've got 'em right now just thinking about it.

I cannot say which album is my favourite. I love them all equally and am happy that it appears that Live is making a new album. And will there ever be a Live Live? Can't wait for that!

But because of the above reasons Live V will always stand apart in my heart and mind.

V is a pretty shitty album, no doubt. However, I think to a lot of true Live fans it holds a special place in their hearts because it was the last Live album with some sort of emotion. I'm flipping through the songs quickly now, and after having listened to SFBM for a while desperately trying to understand it, this just sounds right. It's got some angst and real emotion!

Related to the upcoming album or online release of songs, I really hope they have this same passion. Live's music is, in technical terms, certainly nothing to write home about and that is true from MJ to SFBM. However, the emotion took it more than a few notches above regular pop and I hope more than anything they recapture that before their career is over.

So true, I'm sure that if Ed would have chosen a different band and kept the same writing style we would've seen a much bigger band. I have always compared them to a band called King's X. They have a really ugly and crummy singer but the band is great! Live has a great singer, one of the best, pat and chad on guitars are no Geezer Butler or Eddie Van Halen. I'll give credit to chad, the drummer. He is decent.
