A question I couldn't answer!, Band's name change Options

Someone asked me today why Eddie and the guys changed their name from Public Affection to LIVE.

And I was floored.

I don't know the answer to that question!

Anybody have any idea??

after they were about to go for a breakthrough, signed a major label, they needed a more commercial, better name than Public Affection (and before P A it was even First Aid or something ).

But they all came up with some names, but Ed told later he actually didn't want a name for the band at all. Just nameless. For commercial reasons that wasn't possible so he wanted "the most nameless bandname in the world". As most of those names were already chosen (for example The Who), it became just LIVE.

They agreed that whatever was drawn out would be the name. "Live" was drawn out. They agreed it was a good idea because every time "Live" was said, seen on television, or the news it would be free advertising for the band.

yeah I have heard your version of the story too different times, and I think it is true, but about being nameless, Ed told that also diff. times, also in a 2006 interview on Dutch television.

I heard it directly from Chad Taylor and Pat on MTV back in the day when they were on MTV all the time.
