From FOL.com:
10/31/07 - LIVE joins 46664 Johannesburg concert

LIVE has just announced that they will board the 46664 Johannesburg concert at Ellis Park next month. The last minute addition to the World AIDS Day concert on December 1 was confirmed today. The band will appear alongside the twenty-two other international and South African artists already lined up for the show, which is being staged to show support and raise funds for former President Nelson Mandela’s 46664 HIV AIDS campaign.

Confirming the band’s participation, Ed Kowalczyk said: "Nelson Mandela is one of the most inspiring and uplifting figures of our age. His tireless efforts to bring freedom and healing to the people of Africa transcend the boundaries of country and creed and speak directly to the heart of all humanity. LIVE is tremendously honoured to be part of this year's ‘46664’ concert."

As announced by Mr. Mandela on Monday of this week, fifteen of South Africa’s biggest artists have already come forward to join the concert alongside world artists Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Corinne Bailey Rae, Razorlight, Ludacris, Goo Goo Dolls, Jamelia and Angelique Kidjo.

Tickets for the concert are priced from R120-00 (excluding service fee) and are available from Computicket. Call on 083 915 800 or visit website at www.computicket.com for more information.

From The Times yesterday:

Live living for lunch with Madiba

The US rocker, Ed Kowalczyk, can’t wait to meet Nelson Mandela.

The lead singer of Live and the other members of the band — Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Gracey and Adam Kowalczyk — are ready for their big performance at this year’s 46664 concert at Ellis Park on December 1.

Speaking to The Times from Los Angeles, Kowalczyk said the band were really excited about their upcoming trip.

“I am looking forward to meeting Nelson Mandela. He is one of those people whose ideals are shared by so many people in the world and whatever cause he is behind he does with such passion.”

The 46664 concert, named after Mandela’s former Robben Island prison number, was launched several years ago by the former president and is aimed at raising funds for those living with HIV/Aids.

Kowalczyk said Live was scheduled to have lunch with Madiba a few days before the concert.

“Being part of the concert is our contribution to the fight against HIV/Aids. After getting the e-mail that invited us to the concert I just had this overwhelming feeling. It was such an honour to be invited,” he said.
