Album Analysis II, V Options

The analysis of Throwing Copper seems to have run it's course, so it's time to move on.

The Idea - Analyze the album (in this case V) song by song, stating whatever you want or whatever comes to mind about each song. Overall Summary:

1. Intro
Interesting introduction. I ended up liking it simply because it flows right into Simple Creed. I actually think it is part of the song, but it was placed as a seperate track for radio purposes.

2. Simple Creed
Heard this song and instantly loved it. Great opening guitar riff and tons of energy throughout. One of Live's best songs. Perhaps the best song since TDTH.

3. Deep Enough
This is where my opinion of this album quickly began to change. I appreciate the idea of doing something differently artistically, but this song is horrible.

4. Like A Soldier
This song is somewhat listenable. It actually had some potential to be alright, but was ruined as a whole with certain segments.

5. People Like You
WTF? The only good thing about this song is that they say "Springsteen" and "pissing in the mainstream". This song sucks.

6. Transmit Your Love
One of the better songs on THIS CD. Unfortunately that isn't saying a lot about this song or this CD. Can't listen to it anymore.

7. Forever May Not Be Long Enough
My vote for the worst Live song ever made. Just start listening at the 1:10 mark to cut through the light crap and straight to the real crap. If I made a CD in my basement, I wouldn't have put this on it.

8. Call Me A Fool
#2 song on this CD. It's not all that bad. I can listen to it, but because it's on this CD I don't.

9. Flow
First of all, the quiet intro was a totally awesome idea - love it. Song then starts off rocking I'm starting to think I really love this song and then at the 1:23 mark Ed starts in with his "Floooow, Flooooow" high pitched crap. Totally ruined the entire song, rendering it unlistenable. If anyone has a version with that crap edited out please let me know!

10. The Ride
Just a dumb song that overall does not sound good on the ears.

11. Nobody Knows
From what I've seen on this board I think I am in the minority thinking this is an alright song. That's all I can say - it's alright.

12. OK?
Will I ever like this song? "Not today, Not today"

13. Overcome
When I heard the opening piano to this song for the first time I was thinking "Oh my god, Live's got another huge hit on their hands ... and then the rest of the song happened. The vocals and lyrics totally ruined it. I absolutely hate this version (although I do enjoy the live version on Radiant Sea).

14. Hero Of Love
The part where Ed sings "Hero of Love" is great. The rest of the song is garbage.

15. Deep Enough (Remix)
This version is worse than the original. Total crap.

Overall Summary:
With the exception of Simple Creed , which I feel is an awesome song, this album was total crap and a waste. This is Live's worst album, PERIOD. I listened to it the first time and thought to myself, maybe I just need to listen to it again so it grows on me. The only thing that grew was a nasty feeling in my stomach (I think this album gave me the flu) and a desire to get my money back. I actually would still appreciate a refund.
