Is the career home runs record now tainted?

I honestly believe it is, but I also hate to speculate. Hopefully the investigation leads to some good evidence.

Bonds would have passed Mays anyway even without steroids.

I agree with that. I don't think Bonds hit the juice until he was in his mid thirties when the injuries started to take a toll on him. He's always been a great player, just with a jackass of a personality. I think he was aided in achieving this record, but even without the juice, he'd have been a 600 homer guy easily.

Yeah you're right. It's just the fact that he cheated that bothers me. That sends a terrible message to baseball fans and, especially, to kids. It makes our sport look bad when really, as Heather said, baseball should have the best reputation of any American sport. But Bonds is still one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

As for passing Willie Mays, yeah it would've happened anyways. BUT in my opinion (and I am a HUGE baseball fan), Willie Mays is still the greatest to ever play baseball. Look at his numbers if your opinion differs. He just completely dominated. I wish I had been alive to see him play. I find it very ironic that he and Bonds have such a close relationship.

Yeah, Willie was a great all around player and I could see anybody making an argument for him being the best of all time. But I can see that argument being made for a few guys. Willie being one of them for sure.

The thing that gets me is that guys like Mays, Aaron, McCovey and a lot of the old greats, show a lot of class. They were all great sportsmen. I think it bothers me more that Bonds is a complete fucking idiot and void of any class. Juicing just puts it over the top for me.
