WOW! Where Do We Go From Here and Dam @ Otter Creek! Wish I could have been there!! The only reason I think that the guys weren't into it and seemed bored was because the crowd wasn't into it.

That's a lame excuse if I ever heard one. sarcasm.gif

The crowd was completely still and silent for CS for the first half of their set. Yet by the end Ed Roland had everybody going absolutely nuts. The applause wasn't even applause, it was a roar.

That's what a good frontman does, takes a still crowd and makes them kick it up and rock out to the band. He took the crowd from zero to a nine and a half on the richter scale. He had the crowd singing halg of RUN, and they were singing so loud, it was amazing. I was in awe that this guy took a crowd from not even moving, to fist pumping and singing an entire song for him.

The cheers that CS got at the end were a thousand times louder than what LIVE got at the end of their show. When Ed Roland mentioned LIVE and said thanks to them, the crowd roared louder for them than they did at the end of Lightning Crashes. A hundred times louder. And at the time Mr Roland mentioned LIVE, it was fairly early and he hadn't gotten the crowd going yet. Most of the crowd was there for LIVE, they have a fairly large following here. Yet none of us responded to LIVE the way we did for CS, and sadly enough, that includes me.

By the end of CS, I wanted more. But when LIVE were done? I was actually kinda glad. I mean no disrespect at all when I say this, but I was kinda embarassed for them. Ed never even attemted an interaction with the crowd and that's just not ED. Last time he was here, he had the crowd going fucking bananas. He jumped out into the aisle and sang and danced. He was up on Gracey's drum wall, going nuts with Taylor and even invited all the girls to come up and sing along to sophia and dance with him. He had the crowd singing along loudly 5 or six times, he talked to us a whole buch....etc

Thursday? NOTHING.....and the crowds reaction said it all.

Yes I'm sure that Ed Roland mentioning Live got 100 times the reaction of Lightning Crashes. As for Collective Soul getting 1000 times louder a cheer than Live, I bet that's true too. I'm also releasing my first album solo album at the end of the year, you should be hearing the single on radio soon.

When I saw Collective Soul in NYC, the crowd were still like zombies through the majority of the set. They applauded at the end of each song and did sing along a, but the band's music didn't inspire the movement of the audience that Live did. I've heard from others who attended the Toronto show that the moshing was greater during Live's set, and the reaction that the band got was excellent.

Did Collective Soul get a louder roar? I have no clue, but then again who cares. Live may have had an off night like you said, but someone else who attended said they had a good night. All a matter of perception.
