Besides Ben's hilarious face when he didn't know if he actually got that touch down or not.....

I really liked the Fed Ex commercial with the cave men. Not only was it funny that that dinosaur gets eaten but then he kicks that little one before getting squashed......thats my kind of commercial. lol.gif

Why do Americans all talk about what commercials were on during the superbowl each year? It can't be all that great of an event if everyone is looking forward to the commercials so much..

Why do Americans all talk about what commercials were on during the superbowl each year? It can't be all that great of an event if everyone is looking forward to the commercials so much..

Now you did it. An advertising question.

Ok. Well - the Superbowl is statistically the most watched event on American TV. Meaning, it has the largest number of viewers. Meaning, every single company who advertises wants to run commercials since it'll give them the most exposure. Meaning, the TV network can charge around THREE MILLION DOLLARS for 30 seconds of airtime. That's just the airtime. Not including production, writing, costumes, makeup, actors, and whatever else is needed to make those 30-second movies selling shit. So with that kind of audience, the commercials are traditionally much more elaborate and creative than they are throughout the rest of the year - just to make more of an impact and make themselves more memorable in the viewer's mind.

*takes a breath*

AND, commercials during the pregame and first quarter are more expensive because nobody really ever watches the entire Superbowl (unless they're a heavy-duty football fan). For the most part, everyone ends up really drunk and passing out.

*takes another breath*

SO ... if you want to run commericals during the Superbowl but can't afford $3 million for 30 seconds, buy some time in the 3rd & 4th quarters ... and pray for a tight game so everyone keeps watching.
