I was thinking of getting tickets to Live Earth. Is anyone going to the show? I was wondering if it would be worth going.

I wouldn't go on prinicpal. A load of backslapping musical luvvies 'doing their bit' for global warming by participating in a huge energy guzzling spectacular. The concerts are going to have a neutral carbon footprint my ass! Are all the megastar acts performing going to fly there on their private jets powered by their own self-generated hot air emanating from their pompous mouths? Are all the people driving hundreds of miles to get there and making a journey they wouldn't normally, going to walk or use alternative fuels? Are the vending stands selling chips and hotdogs going to use recyclable paper containers instead of styrene containers that are manufactured from petrochemicals pumping greenhouse gasses into the environment? Are they fuck! All I can say is irony just died.

It's nothing to do with stopping global warming or raising awareness, but everything about easing consciences, blatant consumerism, making the artists even more rich and the audience feel smug and self-satisfied that they are doing something to save the planet. This furore about global warming is all horseshit anyway. It's a huge cartel with scientists who's research contradicts the opinion of the powers that be being treated like medieval heretics and not being able to get any funding - how is that a balanced and scientific way to prove any theory? It's just another way for politicians to line their pockets anyway - carbon trading anyone? I'm not saying it's not happening necessarily, but global warming is now a multi million dollar business. You'll realize that when you're being flogged Live Earth merchandise.

Okay, I'm done. *gets off soapbox and takes a deep breath*
