I absolutely love Live, but the setlist has to change heynow.gif . I just checked what they played on June 10th this year with Collective Soul. It's almost the exact same setlist as last year banghead.gif . It was:

1) Mystery
2) All Over You
3) Selling The Drama
4) The River
5) Mirror Song
6) They Stood Up For Love
7) Voodoo Lady
8) Wings
9) Shit Towne
10) I Walk The Line [Johnny Cash]
11) Iris
12) The Dolphin's Cry
13) Heaven

ENCORE
14) Sofia
15) Lakini's Juice
16) I Alone
17) Lightning Crashes
18) Operation Spirit
19) Dance With You

The statement from one of the people at the concert was that Collective Soul was great since they were playing songs that everyone knew, and that when Live went on a stretch of what seemed like 8 songs that people weren't familiar with the place started to clear out tear.gif . I'm sorry, but Voodoo Lady, Wings, Sofia, Iris, Mirror Song, and I Walk The Line have to go. As a diehard Live fan, I don't even care for these songs. I can see why people who don't follow every step of the band's career walk out. In addition, Dance With You is good, but they've been closing with that forever and a concert should end on something upbeat anyway. That's more of a middle of the show song so people can get up to get a beer. I'll be really disappointed veryangry.gif if they come to Michigan with that setlist, especially since I didn't care for it last year.

Live, if you are looking, PLEASE MIX IT UP thumbsup.gif !!!!!

The reason, I think, for LIVE not mixing up the setlist is because if they are going to add new songs that they haven't been playing, they have to practice them together. So by not changing the setlist they don't have to take the time to practice, they can just play what they always play together. They can take more time out to spend with their families, I suppose. I asked one of the guys when I met them why they don't play Face & Ghost and one of them said they don't even remember how to play it. lol.gif

I was thinking the same thing...hardly no time for practice. It kind of sucks but it's understandable with them having families and all.

Oh please. What a lame excuse. Are we gong to accept that as a reason for the next 10 years as we wait for their children to grow up?

Each of the band members have external interests outside the band - they're able to devote time to those endeavours, why can't they spend a couple of days rehearsing some old material? They're musicians, it's shouldn't be that hard...

Good point. I guess it comes with part of being a band. I'm sure other bands, with members who have children, can bang out some old songs in concert. I guess we'll see.

On the other hand, a good number bands travel around for a tour and never change a single song on their setlist. Other bands always change the setlist up but then perform the songs in a substandard way. It all depends.

In 2005, if anyone told me that Live would be playing Iris, RattleSnake, and Mirror Song in concert and mixing up the order of the setlist, we'd all be ecstatic. We are just spoiled.

All good points in the last few posts. The family thing and their other ventures are a definite factor, but I also agree it wouldn't kill them to make working in more practice time a priority. It wouldn't be a big time commitment at all, and something so simple would make alot of devoted fans ecstatic if the end result is more diverse shows. Hopefully it's not wishfull thinking and it happens down the road. But whatever I guess. It is true we are spoiled to an extent. I'm mainly just happy this band still exists and that I can enjoy them live. This is just 'perfect world scenario' stuff I suppose. And as we've bantered back and forth about, they have stepped up a bit with the longer sets, bringing back a handful of great old tunes, and not playing the exact same set every nite. So believe me, I'm happy for that. I just want them to take the next step. Dare to dream...
