Avril, offending to the ears AND eyes Options

I literally said Eeewwwwwwww outloud when i pulled the new issue of Blender from my mailbox and found Avril Levigne on the cover half naked.

I couldn't post it. Its too big, pale, skinny and disgusting.

I'm glad I wasn't Heather, the shock from it could have induced labor.

I hate to do this... it's making me feel ill even typing it, but I feed compelled to defend the atonal and talentless harpy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with her body at all. She isn't skinny - she's just right and as a woman, it's wonderfully refreshing to see a girl of her age in the media that hasn't starved herself into some weird skeletal lollipop headed freak. And pale? It's just as refreshing to see a girl her age who hasn't got a pneumatic pair of silicone breasts that look like a canteloupe cut in half, spilling out of a way too small bra and a fake tan so orange she looks like an Oompah Loompah. She has a very nice and very normal body and thankfully she seems to have a healthy body image. More power to her even if I can't stand her music and want to smack her one for that latest song that's glorifying being a complete tart.

Don't ask me about her face, though. She gives me the heebie geebies with her pointy teeth, horribly shaped mouth when she opens it and that weird nose that looks like she's got the tip pressed up agains a window and she's pulling funny faces.

Yeah, atonal and talentless is fair enough I guess. But I don't see much wrong with her face neither, other than the fact that she looks like she has a halloweenish set of dracula teeth in at times. But where's your beauty awards??? Where are mine?? I don't have any and you probably don't neither. Avril is actually quite cute in her own way if you ask me.

My point is why be so eagar to criticize and call somebody gross and disgusting? Even if they do have some sort of disorder? Whether or not they bring it on themselves, what does it matter? These people still end up sick and often times it becomes life threatening. Do I look at somebody who is diabetic and tell them they're a pig for eating to much sugar? Or not empathize for the person dying of lung cancer because they smoked? Or the guy who dies of a sudden heart attack cause he clogged his arteries with one too many burgers?

Bottom line is these are people. And people need to take a look in the mirror before jumping down the throat of people who would be better of with words of encouragement than being called sickening or disgusting.
