okay until yesterday i thought the two were the same (ketchup being what americans call tomato sauce) but i was browsing around at my shop and realised that Heinz have both Ketchup AND tomato sauce in their lineup. WTF???

i didnt have time to go through the ingredients to single out differences, but i just wanna know whats the difference, who likes which better, and why the fuck its taken me 23 years to figure this shit out!

okay, ive taken the liberty to contact the heinz people and find out once and for all. Here is my email to them:

To the good people of Heinz,

As an advocat for www.fansoflive.com, the members are seeking your expertise, as well as other leading long-life goods manufacturers, to explain in comprehensible terms the difference between two of your most infamous products: Heinz Big Red Tomato Sauce and Heinz Ketchup, as we are struggling to differentiate the two.

It seems that both of these fabulous condiments are packaged, marketed and indeed intended to be used as a 'sauce' of such, served either with a hot dog, burger or "anything you can think of" as your label suggests. Is there in fact, any discernible difference between them?

My personal disillusionment over the matter has left me alienated, depressed, and above all hungry for a viable and satisfactory answer to my predicament. I am sure that other internet groups will rally to join our plight in finding the truth and, in doing so, enjoy these items with as much joy and fullfilment as i am sure you have intended. We hope your company's passion to become pioneers in leading the way towards shattering some of the myths and stereotypes surrounding Ketchup and Tomato Sauce, will end our pain and put the matter to rest.

Most respectfully

Mr. Wambangalang
