As you know tomorrow marks the 5 year anniversary of the darkest day in history. Please remember to pause for the ones who lost there lives that day and keep our military in your prayers!!! NEVER FORGET 9-11-01...

I stare in total disbelief,
heart torn with instant grief.
Plumes of black smoke fill the air,
marking a building no longer there.
I close my eyes, I want to pray,
but my mind doesn't know what to say.
Much like Pearl harbor, so many years ago,
so many gone with one fatal blow.
There are no words to explain,
there are no words to ease the pain.
To those who gave their lives,
Mothers, Fathers, Husbands and Wives,
to all who's lives today did cease,
may your soul find instant peace.
We will honor you and the life you gave,
as a Patriot of "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave."

QUOTE(Kymra @ Sep 11 2006, 12:22 am) *

First of all, I want to say what you wrote is beautiful.

But, do any of you out there think that it's just ...well, wrong, to be memorializing and dramatizing this situtaion so soon after it happened? eh.gif I mean, if we were recognizing something that happened in the Vietnam war, I could see it. WWII, absolutely. But something that happened just 5 years ago? I think it's just a testament to what media whores not only the US are, but the entire world. no.gif

luff ya, Kymra, you know this....

but in my most humblest of opinions, passion and memorializng tragedy doesnt have a shelf life.

Our country did nothing for the GIs, their families, friends, loved ones who gave their all for Vietnam until it was way over due....the media whores had a field day during Vietnam posting daily casualties and the like. So much so that my mother had to stop watching the nightly news in fear of my father being listed. It is the callous oversight that cost our country years of giving OUR vets their due and the heart ache that accompanied my family and my military family was/ is costly.

my heart, prayers are with all affected by the tragedy and for those who are still giving their lives in our armed forces, the police, firefighters and those who love them. nothing we can do or say will ever erase the images of that tragic day.
