Should Live Call It Quits?, Is it time? Options

I am a huge Live fan. I have enjoyed every CD (except V, which I can't even listen to except for Simple Creed) but I'm finding that the band has lost originality. I tried making a CD of my favorite songs recently and had trouble placing songs in order since every song is about love or includes water in it in some way. I miss the fun songs like Waitress and Shit Towne, they are lacking from newer live CD's. Instead we get songs that include earth elements, are about love over and over again, and sorry attempts to protest the war in some way. I would appreciate a new live CD that did not include songs about love, and had nothing to do with water (streams, rivers, ect.) or the sun, and did not mention the war (those songs especially never even seem to be very good at all) (p.s. I am not stating this as any type of comment on the war). Unless Ed can come up with lyrics on original topics that are radio worthy in the U.S., or that make me want to turn up Live and rock my speakers again , maybe live should hang up their hat and do greatest hits tours ever so often.

The newer Live seems stale and old before I even replay the CD.

This is my topic and people aren't realizing what I am saying. Live's new stuff is totally stale. It is formulatic and uninteresting. If you don't believe me, just look at their record sales and the sizes of their concert crowds. I didn't say Live should break up, I indicated that they should either put out cutting edge music (instead of retreading the same themes over and over and over again ... just read any album critic) or they should stop making new crap. A best of tour every year at my state fair would be fine. Songs like Waitress, Shitowne, and White Discussion were songs that made Live unique. These are just citations coming from one album, the one almost everyone fell in love with. Anyone can write about love, water, and the sun over and over again.

For those that say, hey, the Dam at Otter Creek and Waterboy had water in it I say to you I know, that's my point. It's been on every single CD since. I don't understand what your defense is to that. I'm just guessing that there next CD, unless they change, will have the same tired topics on it as this one. You can call the songs Water (The Twentieth Live Montra To H2O), I love My Wife (As If You Hadn't Heard), I Love My Daughters (What Rock Star Doesn't), This War Is B.S., and Sun, Sun, Sun.

Don't mistake my comments as hating on Live. I just want them to make something good. And for those that say I shouldn't be posting and f*** off, I do recall a recent post that said this message board is as stale as the band. Glad I could help.

If you support Live singing the same songs about the same things over and over and over I apologize. If you would like to hear your favorite band actually play on the radio, and have people other than you and this chatroom talk about them, then you should be with me.
