I am a huge Live fan. I have enjoyed every CD (except V, which I can't even listen to bomb.gif except for Simple Creed) but I'm finding that the band has lost originality. I tried making a CD of my favorite songs recently and had trouble placing songs in order since every song is about love or includes water in it in some way. I miss the fun songs cry.gif like Waitress and Shit Towne, they are lacking from newer live CD's. Instead we get songs that include earth elements, are about love over and over again, and sorry attempts to protest the war in some way. I would appreciate a new live CD that did not include songs about love, and had nothing to do with water cry.gif (streams, rivers, ect.) or the sun, and did not mention the war (those songs especially never even seem to be very good at all) (p.s. I am not stating this as any type of comment on the war). Unless Ed can come up with lyrics on original topics that are radio worthy music.gif in the U.S., or that make me want to turn up Live and rock my speakers again rockin.gif , maybe live should hang up their hat and do greatest hits tours ever so often. guitar.gif

The newer Live seems stale and old before I even replay the CD.

This is the first thread I have taken the time to read all the way through for months now and actually reply.

It s funny now how everyone seems to be coming to Live's defence when not quite a year ago, your saw ppl like Mr Mcpheezy throwing off at them (Live) in the exact same fasion. Now im not saying what he said wasnt justified (thats not the point) the point is, no one or very few, had the guts to tell him to f*#K OFF!

So what is it, that is making people dismiss a constructive argument, just because this is a "Live fan" website? Back those many months ago people were coming to Mcpheezy's support judging the slow regression of Live's music. Now the majority are saying 'you know what f**k you, Live rock no matter what' Which is dam F'n right! Just frustrates me to see people these days cant stand for what the f**kn believe in.

I still feel exactly the same way, I don't need mcpheezy to dictate my beliefs. Mostly what it came down to was that he could usually say what I wanted to say but better than I could but either way.

I think Live's last 3 albums have really been terrible trash besides a couple of songs on BOP that I like, and I do have an emotional attatchment to V. But in my honest opinion now Live hasn't released anything worthwhile since 1999. However before that from 1991-1999 they made some of my all time favorite music so it's hard to just dismiss a band when you've had a love affair with them for so long.

I don't think Live should call it quits, I think they still put on a fantastic energetic live show, even though I wish the setlist had major regular shake ups, I'm looking forward to seeing them.
I refuse to believe a band that has made so many good songs over the years can suddenly be incapable of doing so again. The talent still has to be in there somewhere.. it's just they are not utalising it.
It's clear to see that around the time their material took a nose dive is the same time they stopped writing as a band and Ed took over main song writing duties and also they picked up Jim Wirt. There is a connection there.

I find Live extremely frustrating cos each time they release something now I find myself hoping to hell that they can find what they have before but they just can't do it.

I don't see why they should call it quits though .. they're still doing what they love I guess. Just because they're not selling out huge arenas anymore shouldn't matter, they're still more successful than the majority of bands out there that plays pubs in cities all over the world that aren't even signed to any lables .. no one is telling them to quit, so by those standards, Live is still pretty successful.
