So....first of all, hello. I'm still alive. No longer collecting, as many of you know, BUT...I have been very active on Discogs. Part of this journey is treating every single release in my collection (not just Live, but literally everything) with crazy levels of dedication. This means full top-quality scans of every aspect of a release, full label and company credits, full matrix code stuff....I won't get into the depth of it. If you collect any band at all, you probably get what I'm talking about.

But, at my heart, I've always been a Live collector.....and this one snuck up on me. Even when I ran Live Collector's Resource (livediscography.com) I never mentioned this. Frankly, I just didn't have enough info about it to warrant an entry. But, it DOES exist, and I'm perplexed.

Many years ago, I saw an auction on eBay for a BMG release of Throwing Copper on CD. The auction itself was easy to win for almost no money because it was "disc only". But what got me was the colour. This was a red copy of Throwing Copper. And I don't mean the tray was red. I mean the fucking disc was fucking red smile.gif

So, I bought it.....and now I've made a Discogs entry about it. But............this is a bit of a mystery item. Does anyone else have a red Throwing Copper?

Here's the URL for the release...........incidentally, I've been very slowly going through my nearly 1,200 Live-related releases and updating them for Discogs, so....over time, if you're a collector.....there may be some better scans and info for items you're looking for smile.gif

Upon closer inspection, this is looking more and more like a strange anomaly. On the red disc the words "throwing copper" and the dash above the "i" in Live are the only things in green/olive. Then compare this to a normal copy of the disc....those are the only parts in red smile.gif

So....total guess here, but I'm thinking this was an accidental palette swap of colours in whatever software was used to assign colours to the final product. Seeing as I had to add it to Discogs myself and seemingly nobody else has really come across a copy like this, I'm guessing it was not intentional, but instead production error. God, I wish there was a way we could talk one-on-one with whoever was in charge of the pressing plant that day. "How many copies like this are there?" "Were you just high?" "Is Mitch McConnell alive?" WE NEED ANSWERS!!!

Look /
Examine the hub/spoke and see where the disc was made. I remember some mfg errors from factory level issues in the 90s. If you see some coatings in the hub area front or back I’d like to know. BMG cds were made primarily in PA and CA through license if this disc was around that time
