This band seriously needs to drop some new music. I am actually surprised Ed has not done so yet. Any guesses as to why? I’m concluding there would be a legal issue with it, but that is all still super confusing. Everything is confusing. The future of Līve is only just spotty tour dates, and that’s it? Why does it appear that he doesn’t seek to tour, but instead waits to play at the venues that request the band? How long is that going to last? I’m already so bored with that, I’m ready for a new setlist or something. Also, I know he’s taken the high road in the situation, but when is Ed ever going to grant someone an interview? Soooo many questions.

Frustrating.

My two cents. While I would love new music, it's not make or break for me at this point. Given where the band is, the effort to write and record new music (especially good new music) might be an uphill battle.

There are other options to keep fans excited. The recent setlist overhaul was awesome, and I think they could lean into this further. Some of my favorite bands knock their fans' socks off not with new material but by making old material new again. How bout an epic version of Unsheathed to open a show? An extended cut of Century w/ a new guitar solo. I love when bands play around. Bring back the 10 min version of Good Pain that was a bonafide CLOSER. The original songs/melodies are already written so the heavy lifting is over. You can have fun and see where it goes! Most importantly, this is doable.

This isn't an argument against new music. I'll be stoked to hear it. But realistically, Live is a touring entity at this point. New songs will trickle out when they do, but we can't rely on new music alone to sustain the feeling of excitement around live shows.
