I was there, and would generally agree with that review. Moments of sloppiness amidst moments that soared. Ed was very alive and the show was more than worth the trip.

Despite forgetting some of Freaks, I loved their energy during it, so it was a highlight. Dolphin's Cry was killer top to bottom (their best last night IMO) and They Stood brought the magic too. Other songs were fine enough, but a little flat, perhaps due to lack of rehearsal/time off?

The venue was awesome! Great staff and a nice layout within the ArtsQuest campus. The SteelStacks themselves added character I've never experienced before at any outdoor show.

Speaking of, you're going to play at a historic steel plant in Pennsylvania (not far from York) and NOT play Pillar of Davidson?! I know the setlist is locked but COME ON. Not a surprise though. This is a band that can coast with minimal night to night variation or rehearsal. I get it though. Extra efforts to please the diehards won't really grow their audience or move the needle on ticket sales. And of course credit for adding gems like Brothers, MEIAVC, etc.

As far as the 2023 line-up, I'm all for it. A nice refresh of energy, and Loy is a beautiful texture on backup-vocals. My one gripe with him is the solos specifically on Run to the Water and Stage. The original solos are so badass and melodic, but Loy just blandly fumbles through them. If he had an original take that was compelling, that's fine, but last night it seemed more like laziness. Just on those two songs. Other solos, he nailed.

Fairly small gripes, as, again, I generally loved the show and was grateful for their performance.
