A Week later ........ Options

Tomorrow I will have had SFBM one week. On the day that I got it , I posted that I did not like it and was very disappointed. I am now eating my words ! I love it and I can't stop listening to it. Go figure - that will teach me to not be so impulsive with my opinion next time. Thanks to everyone for encouraging me to keep listening. I came very close to putting it back in the case and pitching it in the back seat of my car. That is what I did with BOP and I did not listen to it again for 6 months. I have a suspicion that SFBM may sneak right up to the top of my list of favorites but I won't be impulsive again and say that right now.

For me, this is the worse album for Live. I'm a singer so vocals is the most important thing to me and on this album, Ed does nothing to make me go I gotta try that like on other albums. Its just so lukewarm and boring. I really tried to like it but I'm sad to say I don't. Nothing really grabs me and stand out. Thank God for Sophia though, it is the only thing that saves this album.

I must say though that the songs sound 10 times better in concert. And that I'm looking forward to the next album. Hopefully it comes sooner than later. Live should seriously think of going indie. I refuse to believe this great band is contented to release lukewarm pop songs. I know they can do so much better.

I agree with you that no songs on the album make me go "WOW". Usually there are some songs on Live's albums that blow me away. But here, I see none that are just way out there. That was the only thing that bugged me about it. I feel the songs are pretty much consistently good, but none are epic to me. I love the album, but there are no standouts compared to other albums for me.

See this is what bugs me. How can you say you love an album that doesn't have any songs on it that make you go "wow." I just don't get that. The reason that I used to love Live is because most of their songs made me go "wow." I find it impossible to find a song on SFBM that does that for me. Why are people just so willing to settle for something that is so inferior to what Live used to be capable of? When I say that I love an album it is because there are songs on there that blow my mind. I can't even come close to even liking this one. Music to me, should be mind blowing, if it's not, why the hell bother?

A great example would be Jack Johnson.

He's a great singer, musician and lyricist, but it's not mindblowing music. It's just damn good to listen to.

Same with SFBM.
