Per the other inquiry. What if we got a new guitarist?

Hold the phone, don't shoot me

I think since Live has always had a touring guitarist on stage. Now Zak Loy...he could become the lead. CT always wanted to have more beef in there for stage sound. He seems too tied up in other business to focus on the band. There has been no activity since the EP, which was Loy anyway.

What other guitarists can step in and do the rhythm and leads and play off Ed and Pat?? Hennesey played with them for a show back in 2012. I am sure they can also get away with it musically, but the optics would be soap opera level musings.... just a hypothetical that is all.

Adam K could, but let's get some re-tread that can play in background. Loy can handle lead it fine. If you saw Ed solo, you would agree.

I did see Ed solo back in the day, and I just watched a video of Ed and Zak doing Heaven/With Or Without You as a refresher since it had been a long time. I also watched a few random videos of Loy soloing under The Distance. Zak can solo better than CT for sure, but that's not CT's forte, and even he would tell you that. He comes up with amazing hooks and can write a rhythm that sings on its own.

This is completely my opinion, so take it for the largest grain of salt you want: Zak can imitate CT fine, which we've been seeing for years, but having heard what Zak contributed on Local 717 with Love Lounge and Brother proves to me that he wouldn't be a good fit for Live's sound if he was to take lead.

They'd need to have rock solid rhythm with the ability to write catchy melodic hooks to carry the song, as well as be able to solo accordingly when the song calls for it, and feel what the song needs to become whole.

grandfalloon, I'd like to hear your thoughts. There are a lot of guitarists out there. Who would you choose?
