I was surfing Kevin Martin's Twitter page tonight and he linked to this poll back in April that I thought would be fun to discuss the results:

Twitter

Google Translated:

"On today's # Radio2 we put Seattle's rock heavyweights aside and ask you: What is the best post-grunge band for you?"

The final results, with 464 votes:

Candlebox: 51.9% (240 votes)
Bush: 22.4% (103 votes)
Live: 7.8% (36 votes)
Creed: 17.9% (83 votes)

Agree? Disagree? Should Live have ranked so low? Were there any other bands that should have been included?

First, I love how Kevin Martin interacts with fans. I’m one of the 36 people who voted for Līve in this poll. If it weren’t for the Candlebox — Līve connection, they would never made the ranking because they fell off the map after 1999.

Secondly, since Līve’s reunion, I’ve expected a Candlebox/Līve tour and am actually quite flabbergasted it hasn’t happened yet. Any guesses as to why?

My favorite post grunge band next to Līve is Stone Temple Pilots. Scott W. was one of the greatest frontmen EVER. They are often lumped in as “grunge” with Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam. Nooo, no, no. They are not grunge, people. They are a kick ass hard rock band. My third place vote would then go to Bush. I was indifferent to them until seeing them on tour with Līve. Very impressive. I actually thought they blew Līve’s away. Been frequently listening to them since.

Same reason why Ed probably doesn't want anything to do with Shinn. Martin replaced him.

STP sure started out with some grunge hits. Tiny Music really departed from it.

I was at the Live and Candlebox show in NH in June 2009.

Tense wasn't even the word for the atmosphere on stage. It was rough and uncomfortable.
