so i know there are many musicians on the board. what kind of gear do you play/own?

my pride & joy is my gibson les paul custom, white w/gold hardware & black trim, but i rarely play it

play my fender stratocaster (Mexico) 90% of the time (tobacco sunburst)

have a cheap olp by ernie ball (my flat black project guitar w/one humbucker)

takamine N10 acoustic w/cedar top

esp ltd b50 bass - best bang for the buck on the bass scene IMO - plays & sounds like a much more expensive bass - flat black

one completely homemade bass w/seymour duncan jazz single coil (really poor bass, but looks cool.gif canary yellow)

fender m80 head half stack

fender deluxe reverb (tube baby!)

fender g-dec

fender rumble 60 bass amp

you'd think w/all this shit i could find the time to record a cover for the contest, but truth is i rarely have time to play anymore angry.gif

Feel like i've done a decent version (but that only in my opinion), don't think W,D is that tough, just pure energy! Iris is much tougher, but if you use the extra Tom on the left side of the kit (for RH's), then life becomes easier. Either way, after finishing these two songs...i need a shower! So rock'n'roll! rockin.gif

Yeah I'd say with Gracey the hardest thing is just working out which sticking combinations he's using- from there, as long as you have the chops (and the feel!), it's ok.

I've noticed he enjoys using the same variations of rhythms a lot, the same fills, stickings etc. but he applies some of them really well to a lot of songs, so that it takes a while before you notice the similarities and realise 'hey! W.D. and s**t towne are almost the same!!'

Like with any instrument, learning the licks of another musician can really help you appreciate how innovative they are and even further, how they might approach their songs technically.

Looking at their gear is fun too...(slinks back to thread topic)...

My 20inch Stagg Myra crash cracked last week so I took it back to the shop today to see if it's covered under warranty. Hopefully I get another one, I've had it for just 2 months!!

My ZBT hihats have also developed cracks so looks like I'll have to be getting some new ones soon too...in the meantime, using my old no name pearl hats that never dent, they just BEND with each hit! lol.gif

Drumming is fairly expensive, ay... surrender.gif
