Narcissistic? I think you mean pessimistic. And is that a serious question?

The band is free to live their lives and manage their career how they see fit. It's their right and the band is their baby and no one else's. In the end all most fans do is sit and wait. In some cases, however, fans spend a lot of time, energy, emotions, and even money in the following of a band. There's a lot of investment going on. Bands may do what they do first and foremost for themselves, but let's not pretend like they aren't hoping a shit ton of people dig the hell out of what they do. Let's not pretend that they don't want people obsessing over them or don't care if people obsess over them. It's a major reason why any band exists. They want fans because without them they don't really have a career. They have a bunch of songs they play for each other in someone's garage or basement.

Live have put out ONE full-fledged album in the last 13 years and it wasn't even with the original band together. I suppose you could count The Gracious Few album as a Live album if you really wanted to, but that would be grossly disrespectful to Kevin and Sean.

The only thing the band has put out since reuniting with Ed is a cobbled together EP of songs that sound like B and C cuts from V, an album that was allegedly never even supposed to be an album. And the band's connectivity with its fan base is a joke at best. If the guys just don't have the same fire and energy anymore then whatever. Nothing lasts forever.

Has covid turned the entertainment industry on its head? Of course it has. No one is delusional about that. But that hasn't stopped many other artists/bands from putting out music or getting together to put on virtual streams. That may not be the absolute tits compared to what it used to be for the industry, but it is far better than the 99.5% radio silence everyone has gotten from Live. Whatever happened to the band that played MTV Unplugged? Is there something wrong with Ed and Chad's acoustic guitars not staying in tune? Do they not know to set up a stream? Can they not learn or have someone else help them set it up?

There is so much potential for something like that it's not even funny. They have a deep catalog with plenty of deep cuts... like Photograph, Vine Street, and non-radio releases like Out To Dry... to go with the radio hits. Even if it were just Ed and Chad doing acoustic renditions. But it all seems tantamount to launching a rocket ship to Mars for them. Or they just don't care. Idk which but it doesn't really matter which. The end result is zip.

Maybe some fans are content, others aren't. And they're not wrong for that. If the guys didn't want people hanging around in the desert waiting for a single drop of water then maybe they shouldn't have dunked them in an ocean 25 years ago.
