I had decided against the long drive to this show, but some serious-business-Bush-fans I know at work said, why not. So since I don’t have to drive, I’ll be there...up front in the Pit. rockin.gif I’m hoping, praying for Spew in the setlist. That would make all worthwhile.

I can’t ever sleep after concerts, so I’ll post my review. Starting with the positives:

-It rained before the concert, and stayed mostly cloudy which made the outdoor show tolerable.
-Was hoping I’d land front row for Līve one day. Check that off my bucket list.
-I met some really cool people at this show.
-Cool to see some parents bring their kids; a new generation of fans.
-Ed sounded great.
-Iris!
-The best part was Chad. He is a beast. I love standing on his side of the stage. He loves what he does and it shows.

The not-so positives (most have been expressed here before):

-No Dam at Otter Creek (noooo!), so no Ed entering through the audience, and no digital screen backdrop. Is this because it was an outside concert?
-The cover songs were not that enjoyable. So many songs in Līve’s catalog, they could do instead, it’s a shame.
-I heard a guy behind me yelling between songs, “HOLD ME UP!” I don’t understand why Live just doesn’t give the people what they want.
-Pretty much the same show as last summer, so it just wasn’t as exciting this time around.
-The Heaven, TMH, & LC ending is boring. They need to end with a bang.
-Līve was billed last, and should have closed the show & didn’t. I can see why it’s best for Bush to close, however. Let me explain...

I’d never seen Bush in concert before, and all these years I’ve just been neutral about them. But OMG, they came out and the crowd who was quite demure for Līve absolutely lit up, went crazy for Bush. Gavin had the moves, and was sex on two legs. Consummate rock star. Sad to say, and I feel bad admitting it, he made Ed look a little cheesy. I have to hand it to Gavin. Bush rocked our faces off with EVERY song. Towards the end of the set (maybe song before last), they finally slowed it down with Glycerine, and that was it for slow songs. Bush was an absolutely awesome show, with awesome fans all around. It left me feeling sad as a Līve fan. As many of us have said over and over, Līve just needs to headline in smaller venues, and cater to their hardcore, cult following, with deeper cuts in the setlist. I wish to experience what Bush fans experienced tonight. On Bush’s last song, a gal standing beside me giddily said, “I’m smiling so much, my cheeks are sore!” I was so elated for her, I gave her a five, and she held onto my hand, and we joyously danced a bit, and she said, “This was BEAUTIFUL!” It was. I am happy for their fans, but at the same time, envious that Līve wasn’t the same. cry.gif

Seeing Bush twice this tour, I would have to disagree. Terrible vocals, with extra loud music trying to cover Gavin’s voice. Also many of Bush’s songs sounded exactly the same. Just not my thing.

Live has been awesome this tour, the shows that I’ve seen anyway. I would rate Bush under Our Lady Peace, and even under Counting Crows from 2018.

You are jaded. I freaking love Līve, and at least I can still be honest. Bush killed it last night, and were about the audience/fans. Līve is, “I’m going to do me.”

Gavin sounded just like he does on the flippin’ radio.

Gavin has a terrible voice, and sings through a filter to try and cover. I really found Bush to be painful in concert. There wasn’t one song that I heard that I felt the need to listen to after I left.

With Counting Crows and Our Lady Peace, I started listening to more of their songs immediately after the concert.

I’ll give it to OLP. They were good.
Everything else you say, I give a facepalm.gif to.

The tour is successful, because they are two popular acts from the 90s, but sonically the bands are very different. I’m just happy that Live is doing well, performing at a high level, and playing in front of packed houses.

The tour probably is considered "successful" for the casual fan and I am looking forward to seeing them at Jones Beach. That being said, the setlist is complete BS and shows a total disregard for the more-than-casual fan. There is no way you can objectively argue that!

While I have fun seeing Līve last night, I agree the setlist is total B.S. I don’t see how they can justify having the same exact show (with the exception of Iris) as last summer. I bought the NOLA tickets long ago on the hope (other than the 6 or 7 songs they are expected to play) that it would be different. I’d been satisfied if they just would have played Hold Me Up, I mean come on. If Līve happens to add Texas October dates, I will not be going.

Bush has a hits heavy setlist and actually plays 3 less songs than Live.

Bush isn’t my favorite band, Live is. It’s a travesty that Live doesn’t dig deeper into their catalogue. That’s what separates them from every other almost forgotten band of the 90s.

Dam are Otter Creek and Iris are pretty deep in the catalog, and they are playing a god laden 3 band show.
