“Freaking Hilarious Setlist Opinions” is the title of this thread, because that’s what it seems possibly the real Chad Gracey commented two hours ago on the FOL Facebook setlist discussion, and I’m quite taken aback by that. What are we, chopped liver? The conversation includes Bill Hynes telling fans that promoters demand artists play certain songs. I don’t see a promoter demanding Līve play “Losing My Religion” and “Paint It Black.” Hynes also took offense to someone calling this a money grab. -That it is indeed a money grab because this is how Līve pays their bills.— I totally get that. I have no problem helping Līve pay their bills, but that goes two ways here. I freaking work my ass off too, for way less. And I bought a concert ticket and am driving 8 hours away because all I wanted to see and hear this summer was my all time favorite band play “Hold Me Up”, not “Losing My Religion.” Now for CG to say that my (fans) opinions are freaking hilarious is rubbing salt in my wound.

Yeah, the covers are definitely just Live having fun or whatever, which is FINE, but a poor choice for THIS TOUR if THIS TOUR is really celebrating 25 years of this particular album. Put two more album tracks in there. (And geez, maybe practice a little bit and get the covers right and the words correct before the 3rd or 4th show of the tour...)

BUT, the above DOES explain something!! It's why "Heaven" is part of the show. "Heaven" was a big hit in Europe, so I bet the promoters for some of the overseas shows require that single to be part of the setlist, so instead of just adding it for those particular shows, Live has it as part of every single show... because God forbid they swap that one song in for a handful of required shows and play something else off the album they're supposedly celebrating for the rest of the tour dates!

Also... what tour promoter demands, "And do NOT play your new single! We don't want that!"

So yeah, no "Hold Me Up" is just them being too lazy to relearn the song.

And I say ALL of this as someone who LOVES the band and their music. I just recognize them as they are. Happy to coast and pay their bills by doing the minimum... which is fine, they've earned it... I just wish they'd try A LITTLE harder because they're good enough that a little more effort would go A LONG WAY.
