“Freaking Hilarious Setlist Opinions” is the title of this thread, because that’s what it seems possibly the real Chad Gracey commented two hours ago on the FOL Facebook setlist discussion, and I’m quite taken aback by that. What are we, chopped liver? The conversation includes Bill Hynes telling fans that promoters demand artists play certain songs. I don’t see a promoter demanding Līve play “Losing My Religion” and “Paint It Black.” shrug.gif Hynes also took offense to someone calling this a money grab. -That it is indeed a money grab because this is how Līve pays their bills.— I totally get that. I have no problem helping Līve pay their bills, but that goes two ways here. I freaking work my ass off too, for way less. And I bought a concert ticket and am driving 8 hours away because all I wanted to see and hear this summer was my all time favorite band play “Hold Me Up”, not “Losing My Religion.” Now for CG to say that my (fans) opinions are freaking hilarious is rubbing salt in my wound.

He did comment in response to what many people are posting. Chad is human and he reacts to things like anyone else. Don't take it personally. Live put together a show they're happy with and they want people to enjoy it.

I didn't post about it there but being honest, Chad and I would have to agree to disagree on this being a good setlist for the 25th Anniversary of Throwing Copper tour. It's not trying to be negative (like he said), it's being honest.

I think for any regular tour this set would be adequate, but this isn't any tour. This is the milestone tour for their biggest album.

I'd love to have seen the album from start to finish with Hold Me Up thrown in. Live said early on that would not be happening.

With that being the case I was hoping for a core 8-10 songs from the album to start or end the show accompanied by a parade of Live hits that span their career. Wasn't t even looking for deeper cuts from other albums this tour because of what it is celebrating along with Bush.

I personally wouldn't have included a single cover for this tour. Some people are commenting that the like them. I don't necessarily mind them, but not for TC 25. I feel like Live put together a tour, but not a tour to celebrate what this album meant to so many people.

Adding to that - along with Church Box, Hold Me Up has been the most anticipated music from Live for about two decades. Not acknowledging the long awaited official release of this song by making it a staple part of this tour is completely puzzling. The long awaited release of Hold Me Up should be the showcase of the celebration of Throwing Copper.

Seeing I'm going to one concert I dont really care about the variety from show to show but to say I'm not a little bummed out about the setlist for this tour after the first show would be dishonest.

I get that. It’s hard to hear criticism when you’re happy with your work. I also know that people get defensive when they’re not happy with their hard work, but also when a little guilty to not have given their work their 100% effort. I hope they are happy with what they’ve put together. Either way, I don’t think it was the right thing to do to jump on the fans expressing their feelings, with the other guy Bill, chiming in sarcastically. That’s what I was taken aback by.

Exactly.

Yes, we are all going to have a million different desires and opinions when it comes to the setlist. I don’t mind the covers either (at least the Blues one is gone, I in fact did mind that one) but, I agree in that they don’t fit in a tour celebrating TC 25.

I whole heartedly agree and don’t understand their decision to not include it. I was thinking they might add it later, but after all the other strange things they haven’t done since the reunion, I 99% doubt they ever will.

Thanks for your honesty.

One comment in particular in that thread I found most interesting. A person said with Shinn, they’d throw surprises into their setlists (Freaks was given as a specific example) and he’d mess up on the lyrics, but they’d still go with it. That is interesting to me, as I never paid much attention to what they were playing with that other guy. As to why that was and it’s not like that now, is a valid point for discussion.

I also wish a journalist would ask Ed why Hold Me Up isn’t being included, but I won’t hold my breath.
