Interview with Adam Kowalczyk From Bandalow
The following are some of the most frequently asked questions with singer/songwriter Adam Kowalczyk from Bandalow:

1. How did Bandalow start?
Through an impromptu introduction that led to about an hour long free-form jam session. I hadn’t played with other people in that regard for a few years.

2. What is your role in the band?
Manager, booking agent, stage hand, security, stage manager, roadie, groupie, songwriter, lyricist, singer, rhythm guitar player. But really, the singing thing, the writing thing and the rhythm guitar part thing mostly.

3. What are some of your career highlights and history?
Quite a few with Live during my tenure working with them but I think the real highlight is not forgetting how important music is to my existence and happiness regardless of those highlights.

4. What are your favorite memories of playing music and why?
This goes way, way back to the beginning of starting my first band with close friends…the feeling you get from getting something right, together, even if it sucks (you have no idea at the time), is priceless. It’s a feeling of being collectively aligned, in that moment with the universe along with other individuals…it’s a very intimate experience and relationship that can create pure joy.

5. Who are your favorite bands [alternative]?
In no particular order…Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, U2, Audioslave, Muse, Nirvana, NeedtoBreathe, REM, Imagine Dragons, Maroon5, Lenny Kravitz, Soundgarden.

6. What type of compilations do you like best?
Old school soundtracks to great movies. “Singles” Motion picture soundtrack for example.

7. How do you feel music has changed or transformed you as a person?
I like to think music has given more to me as opposed to how it may have changed me. Transformation, on the other hand, comes through performing for an audience regardless of the size. Once you let go into the music, you become moreso a vessel for energy and authenticity to flow through. That’s the universe talking. Has nothing really to do with me or what my ego may lead you to believe. 🙂

8. With Bandalow what is your overall vision?
Authenticity. Heart-felt emotive expression. I hope to move one person at a time until we’re all sitting singing along to a song we sort of wrote together…perhaps at Madison Square Garden. Haha.

9. When did you start playing music?
4th grade chorus with the 1st instrument…voice! 🙂

10. Is there anything else you’d like fans to know about you or the band?
I’d like fans to know it’s the real thing…it’s my first full band effort in years. While we may have not grown up together or known each other for very long, but we found each other in our love of music and creativity. Something worked. I decided to jump back in to prove a point to my daughters and that is to never let the gifts you have been given go to waste. Cherish them, embrace them regardless of the pressure of other responsibilities. This isn’t a fabrication, not some pieces of a puzzle from Nashville put together to sell you an image. There’s not a lot of glam to this ride. Not a ton of bells and whistles here…just rock and roll. We want to be with you for a while.
