I haven't listened to it yet, but Chris talks about Live.

Faking a break up, conning a billionaire into filling in, going into business with a convicted felon and conning said billionaire into investing with said felon, and then dropping said billionaire and faking a reunion is about all you can do when your last album was SFBM and you can’t write anything better than Love Lounge or Giver. The reason I rip on Live so hard is because they meant so much to me when I was growing up, and now I’ve grown up to realize they’re a bunch of uneducated redneck phonies who happened to write great music for about 8 years of their current 40+.

The nasty elements to the break up makes the break up legit. Those elements pushed a strong fanbase apart for no reason.

They didnt waste money. it was a huge return on their investment. They became relevant again and made headlines. They were on radio, magazines, rolling stone. They also needed it to seem believable to stir up fan support. This is how you justify CCP going on tour without Ed. Filing a couple of complaints doesnt cost much. They didnt event litigate.

In 2005 Live couldnt sell out a bar in upstate NY. If they tried to write an album after sfbm and tour again it would be even worse. If not unsustainable. With the breakup and return they got top billing at festivals and had two sets of tours going. Wasn't it Otd who brought the court case to our attention?
