Has anybody spotted any tour posters around town? I saw a poster on the back of a bus yesterday. I also purchased a tour poster on eBay. Here's a pic.

QUOTE
Live live again with return of Mr Ed

The West Australian 7 Feb 2018 Harvey Rae

In every group there are core members acting as band leaders. In the case of Pennsylvania post-grunge rockers Live, it falls to guitarist Chad Taylor and frontman Ed Kowalczyk.

When Live broke up in 2009, this partnership was lost and, despite Live reforming without Kowalczyk and releasing last album The Turn in 2014, the reunion wasn’t truly complete until the original singer and songwriter rejoined in December, 2016.

“I’ve known Chad the longest,” Kowalczyk says from Connecticut, where he now lives. “I’ve known Chad since I was in kindergarten and I think if you look at any band, there’s always going to be a guy, or a couple of guys, that are the de facto leaders or the guys that are doing the scheming and the planning.

“Those special relationships, even within the band, need to be nurtured and need to be healed — if they need to be healed — and they did.”

Within two days of sitting down for a beer, Kowalczyk and Taylor were back playing music together.

“About two-and-a-half years ago I started to reconnect with the guys and with Chad Taylor in particular,” the 46-year-old says. “We sat down for a couple of beers in York, our hometown, and within about 48 hours we were playing together again.

“We made peace so naturally. I always say that we had so many good years together that it was like all those good years just swallowed up anything that wasn’t.

“It was a level of gratitude that I don’t think we would feel if we hadn’t split for a while and taken a break.”

Known for hit singles Lightning Crashes and I Alone from 1994 breakthrough Throwing Copper, which sold more than 8 million copies in the US alone, Live will re-introduce themselves with new, self-produced tracks and a world tour.

“The music is so radically different than what it was even in 2006,” Kowalczyk says, referring to their last album together, Songs from Black Mountain. “We’re excited by the opportunity to drop a song at a time and not wait until there’s 10 or 12.

“Most of the production right now is in Chad Taylor’s lap because he knows how to turn the buttons and I don’t. We may end up working with a producer in the future but I have to say I’m pretty impressed with how good we are at doing it ourselves.”

One thing’s for sure, don’t expect any tunes from The Turn or Kowalczyk’s solo work when Live tour Australia next month. It’s all about the classics — and perhaps a couple of new songs.

“We’ll be playing songs from the original line-up catalogue, the songs that we would get in trouble for not playing,” he laughs. “And then fast forwarding to the new chapter creatively. It’s a new era.”

Live play HBF Stadium with the Tea Party on March 6. Tickets from Ticketmaster.

On my way home from work this afternoon and spotted 2 buses with a Live poster on the back!

I snapped a photo and uploaded it to the Fans of Live Twitter account.

I received a call from Ticketmaster yesterday advising that my seat had been relocated. The reason I got was that it was due to 'technical reasons'. My original seat was very close to the side of the stage and it's now been moved about 1.5 blocks further away. Other people in an adjacent block were also moved.

I guess we'll see why this is tonight! It's a stinking hot day today in Perth (the hottest we've had all summer) - hope the aircon is working inside HBF Stadium.
