I just got back from Ohio where I saw Live at Rock on the Range. I really payed attention to what the crowd was saying around me and here are a few of my thoughts of that and the set...

-Before Live went on, many of the people around me were trying to remember the names of songs, the lyrics, etc. It was pretty obvious that Live was not at the forefront of everyone's mind going into this show.

-When Live started with All Over You, everyone pretty much lost the amnesia and there was a TON of singing.

-Throwing Copper material seemed to get a better reaction than anything else (for obvious reasons.

-Ed was not screaming or making angry faces at sound people. He seemed legitimately in the moment and happy to be there.

-As already mentioned multiple times, I Am A Highway got a huge reception. They really did perform it flawlessly. It was probably the best cover of the weekend short of The Pretty Reckless doing Like A Stone.

-Ed sounded decent, however I do have one complaint: He seems to favor the high range of his voice and did a lot of runs...often to the detriment of the song. I love the lower range of Ed's voice. It's not a matter of capability, he just needs to do it.

-I was hoping for a new song, but for the festival experience, going with wheelhouse songs worked well. For the remainder of the weekend, I would hear the crowd bring them up here and there. They definitely left an impression, which is exactly what they needed to do.

-All in all, a great time with a decent set. I look forward to more!
