SS & TDTH Re-released on Vinyl Options

Music On Vinyl will be re-releasing SS and TDTH. both with limited coloured vinyl editions and special sleeves (TDTH is embossed), on June 2nd.

If you want to know what MoV used for a source, you only have to ask them, and they will tell you. Sometimes they get Analogue Master Tapes, sometimes the original Metal Masters, sometimes the license holders send them 96Khz 24Bit files. It just depends what is available.

Every release is fully licensed, and it is not necessarily accurate to say the bands have no say, it depends on who has the right to license the music. If the label has the rights, they may well not involve the band, but that's not a given.

Occasionally they differ from the original release, for instance, their version of Tiny Music by STP, they were supplied the unedited masters, so the opening ditty Press Play is not faded out and continues for the full 4 minutes.

You can preorder the coloured variant of SS on EU eBay, I don't know about eBay USA. The release is a month away, I would expect more eBay traders to have both up for preorder soon. I've always gotten them from eBay with no problem.

I've asked them and they didn't tell me except for the fact it "is all in consultation with the band".

I'm sure they'll be able to tell us before the release. They've always told me whenever I have asked before.

Could be they haven't actually pressed them yet, although that seems to be cutting it a bit fine!

I'm sure these are already in production. There is no way they could be shooting for a June 2nd release day and not started the pressing process yet. I would guarantee that MOV had the audio in hand and to the pressing plant in 2016. The turn around time for pressing vinyl is long these days. There aren't enough plants to keep up with demand.

That said, they may be waiting until these are out the door before they release too many details. Or, they may not know all of the details yet if the band delivered the files to them.
