Anybody else happen to notice that Throwing Copper was released 23 years ago today? Happy Birthday Throwing Copper. We love you.

I think it is fair to say that Throwing Copper was a big step forward in the maturation of the band from where they were with Mental Jewelry. It has a more refined sound. It was better produced. And whereas Mental Jewelry had more of a single-minded focus on the Krishnamurti philosophy, Throwing Copper took that philosophy into action, application in different directions, and expressed more of an unsettled discontent.

Throwing Copper was the right album at the right time. It wasn't just grunge. It had more depth and purpose.

Mental Jewelry was all like "Hey I can see now that we are all the world and we must BE the change we seek, and that will change the world, and liberate us from the beliefs and conditioning."

Throwing Copper was all like "Yo I reject all this bulls*t in the world that you are throwing at me. I rebel!"

Great great stuff!
