This post is mostly targeted at Americans, but anyone can play. We have an opportunity to make predictions for what changes America will go through under a Drumpf presidency.

I assume we'll all laugh about our awful predictions in 2020. How do you see this all playing out? shrug.gif

Fuck Trump! He is an unqualified racist and misogynist. He is appointing financial supporters to his cabinet who have no business in government. He has no true idea of what to do to run a country.

Anyone who voted for him is a complete and utter moron.

I'm excited and looking forward to seeing how this all plays out over the first 100 days and the next 4 years.

You're a moron. For example our infrastructure is crumbling, people have undrinkable water in areas, and our police need more support - yet you want to lower taxes which would cut funding to fix all of these problems. AND at the same time you want to improve education. One of the problems with education is that the funding is not there to provide the services that are necessary. Based on his inauguration speech and education nomination Trump doesn't have a clue. Apparently neither do you.

Maybe you can meet the guy in person so he can grab your mother, wife or daughter "by the pussy".

Hats off to all the ladies marching today.

What percentage should my family have to pay? What's our fair share? What do people with money do with it when they have more of it?

How much do we pay per student right now for our failing education system? Where do we rank? Should I not be able to choose to take my kid from a failing or underperforming government school, and send them to another? Or simply send them to one outside of my district if that will be if greater benefit?

Is this still all Bush's fault?

First off, I see no response to his pussy grab comment. Assuming it's cool with you then.

Where to start with education? The education system is not failing. There are tons of amazing schools across the country. In addition, schools themselves do not fail. The success of a school is systemic and extends beyond the walls of the building itself. The success of the school extends to the government, the community, and to the individuals, supports, and options within that community. When you refer to taking a student out of a school that is failing you are actually advocating for the removal of a student from a community that has been failed by the government (at all levels). That is where the "failing" schools are. You really want to move that child to a community that has been properly supported.

The idea of then underfunding a failing school to further penalize that improperly supported community is the end result of a government failing to recognize and address it's own failures to that community. It's also a failure of that community to do something about it.

If you took that same failing school and put it in a community that was properly supported you would see that the school is successful. You would find the same results if a sucessful school was taken the other way.

Failing schools run parallel with the economic diversity separating communities across the country. The solution of school of choice is really a government band-aid for much larger problems that exist.

When talking about failing schools you also have to examine how failing is measured. A school could be helping students make amazing progress despite all of the disadvantages it faces, yet it is labeled as failing because students are not meeting proficiency standards that are unrealistic to achieve based on what has been provided and established within the area. This is the argument of growth vs. proficiency which is something Devos obviously has no knowledge about. Failing a community and them asking them to achieve to a standard they are not set up to meet is setting the school up to fail. It's really an attack on low income communities. This is the fault of the government and not the school.

Analogy - It would be similar to telling all Americans they have to run a half marathon with a 6 minute mile pace in 6 months or pay a huge penalty. Many life long runners may be able to do this. Some, no matter what they do, could never do this. Many people who tried would improve, get healthier, and show growth, but most would fail to meet the standard because they do not have the foundation and support to accomplish such a monumental the task, especially if they do not have the means or support to do so. On top of it, the government essentially breaks a few legs to put people in a huge hole and an even larger disadvantage to start with.

In this analogy you may have never ran in your life. You may even overcome your broken leg. The fact that you ran a 12 minute pace half marathon might be a success beyond your wildest imagination but the government's stance based on proficiency would be that you failed. You are a failing school.

Without writing another essay I'd simplify taxes by saying the more you make the larger your portion should be. Support the common good.

Is the issue of education the fault of Bush? It's his just as much his as its anyone else's. He didn't create it but he also didn't fix it.

The opportunity for ISIS to come into power, however, is on him. Using false information and propaganda to justify an unnecessary war in Iraq. A war proven to have nothing to do with 9/11. A war based on imaginary weapons of mass destruction. A war creating a vacuum of power in the middle east which allowed ISIS to flourish. That was his creation.
