Truly great interview. Ed won me over with that interview. He was very humble. Displayed effusive gratitude toward the fans. Smart, funny, polished interview. Addressed the relationship among the band members and that they patched things up. Discussed the connection to York and their beginnings. How it feels like they are kids again, getting it all back. Revelation - Dennis Redman called them at the studio the other day. MMR asked - can he still push his voice to the limit? Answer - yes. He said he has a cold right now (maybe that answers some questions from the other thread?). He does some things differently and has added some dimension. Question about new projects? They are working on new music. Started in the Spring. No hurry to finish a record. They want to get out and play in front of fans. Festivals were specifically mentioned. They may "drop a few things here and there, maybe this year". Question about recording. Answer - the studio in York is unbelievable. It's like a dream when you are a kid. No pressure to put 12 songs on an album. They can get songs to fans in a quicker way. Maybe just release a song.

Overall REALLY great interview. Really great job by Ed.

The Turn didn't sound like a Live album at all outside of Siren's Call, where the riff was written in the 90s.

So SFBM should be obliterated then.

The general consensus among die-hard Live fans and casuals is that it is absolute garbage.

I wouldn't go that far personally, I think it had lots of great melodies and particularly middle eights, that's something Live have always excelled at. But it was horribly executed.

Had the band been given full rein to do the music how they wanted, I think it would have been a musically good album with decent vocals but shitty cringe inducing lyrics, like V and BoP.

A lot of SFBM songs are considerably better when played live. I particularly dig Wings at the Paradiso - the guitars in particular sound a lot more like Live than they do on the recording.

Yes, I also have a different mix of The River called Guitars Up Mix, which is a significant improvement. Still a decidedly lacklustre song though.

If I ever played my Live music alphabetically then Secret Samadhi was always followed by Songs from Black Mountain. Which obviously meant you went from Gas Hed to The River. I mean hell fucking fire.

The Turn is more of a Live album than SFBM.
