In the wake of Live’s recent announcement, I want to say how proud and thankful I am for what we were able to accomplish over the past 5 years. We wrote and recorded “The Turn." We toured the US, Europe and even made it to Australia. We became business partners. More than all that, I became friends with some wonderful people I wouldn’t have known otherwise: my brothers Chad Taylor, Chad Gracey, Patrick Dalheimer; everyone who played or worked with the band; all the great fans; and in particular the dear friends I will always have in York, PA. Without reservation, I am truly thankful. This has been an amazing chapter in my life. I will carry this forward with me for the rest of my life.

I have known about this decision for the past 8 months. It is a business decision, first and last. I have always worked under the assumption this day would arrive; so, it didn't come as a shock to me. That said, now that the day has arrived, my heart is broken. I will truly miss being a key part of such an epic band.

I have used the past 8 months to process and mourn this loss from a personal perspective. In some ways, it is a bittersweet relief to finally have it out in the open. After the announcement, I avoided getting online for fear of reading unkind words. But after Katie and others close to me insisted, I relented and slowly began reading the online comments. I was shocked at the positive response. It was unreal and completely unexpected. For every kind word, I want you to know from the bottom of my heart: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You will never know how much your words have encouraged me through a difficult personal crossroads. I only hope I can return the favor in the future.

For the future, I hope my brothers find continued success. Live is iconic, legendary. I know I speak for all past and future fans in encouraging Live to keep playing, keep creating and by all means, keep touring. It has been so much fun making music with you. It has been so much fun laughing with you. I love you all so much and I look forward to hearing even greater things to come.

My next chapter has already started. I have begun to demo new songs for my next record, chipping away at the backlog of ideas from past 3 years. I’ve also begun to draw up plans for a studio and event space I will build in Charlotte in 2017.

Finally, I will always have great pride that my contribution to the band will live on in “The Turn,” the record we worked so hard on and had such a great time making. It warms my heart that my brothers found it worthy to continue to stand in Live’s epic catalog.

I hope all of my friends and fans will continue to stay connected and I hope 2017 is a breakout year for us all.

It is a business decision, first and last.

I don't believe that is the only reason. Sounds like Shinn is trying to make it sound like it couldn't possibly have anything to do with him or the fact most of the fans wanted the original lineup back. I'm sure ECCP have wanted to give it another try also, they are almost life-long friends and probably missed being in a band together and the comradary.
