No the band went on hiatus in 2009, Ed did his two solo records and the rest of the guys formed The Gracious Few but that's it. So I don't know what you guys are on about with Chris Shinn and The Turn or whatever it's supposed to be called.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is how this whole relaunch is? Like they're trying to pretend like nothing since 2012 happened and that everything was always good between them. I feel disrespected as a fan that they would obliterate the last 4 years. Those years happened, they're part of Live's history. They all should man up and stay honest with their us. And I say 'all' not to put the 'blame' on one person because we don't know how it works behind closed doors.

You know, not wanting to play any of The Turn live is one thing. Not even putting the record on the official website, that's just being revisionists.

IMHO, when you put it in context, it makes CS look more like a DB. I don't know him personally, he could be a great guy, so I'm only taking away from what I read.

He's on tour performing songs that Ed wrote, songs that mean a lot to Ed, you would think he'd show more respect for the guy. He could've taken the high road, said something along the lines of "I can't comment on that as I wasn't with the band at the time" but instead he chose to make Ed look like a terrible guy.. "For anyone to try and pull a stunt like that is desperate and shitty."

Just my 2 cents..

Keep in mind the only thing Shinn knows about Ed is how big a piece of shit he turned into. CCP obviously informed him as I'm sure The Thrill did too. You can see the old posts here. Ed got crushed daily by people who were close to the band.

I wouldn't expect Shinn to go out of his way to heap praise on Ed. For one, he was told how awful things were and how bad a guy Ed was, and two, he risks his relationship with CCP if he spends all his interviews saying how awesome Ed is.

Just another reason Shinn is top notch. He walked that fine line pretty damn good.

EDIT: In short, Shinn handled interviews pretty honestly but wasn't a jerk. He could have done a lot more damage and had the ammo and backing to do it.

If he was humble and respectful, he would have had more support. The fact that he really was a shaky performer who wasn't anywhere near CCP's level on stage, didn't help either.

No, but I saw him botch I Alone on their last TV performance, and also saw the Summerland show when it aired back in 2013.

Had I known this thread would become an Ed vs Chris thing, I would have refrained from writing it. There's already too much of those lying around here. I'm not taking sides. I love Ed and, frankly, the band feels right with him in it, which is normal. But I also loved The Turn and Chris. In other words, I loved the band. I was never a fan of BOP/SFBM which to me are Ed's first solo records and I'm not a fan of what he did as a solo artist. Nothing against Ed himself. Music is about feeling and his music didn't make me feel anything.

That said, all I wanted to point out is that I hope they don't pretend that The Turn era didn't exist. Not only is it wrong for fans but it would also reinforce the image of Ed's ego taking over the band. No one wants that.

Now please, can we just stop with the Ed vs Chris debates? They never goes anywhere. Ever.
